Game #53: Halo Campaign Evolved A mixed bag - nice visuals, good gameplay but - a technical mess. Constant dropouts, no invite mid-game is baffling, broken achievements, enemies disappearing randomly. bland prequel missions, strange changes to dialogue/tone & bad VO. Can't recommend over MCC.
Game #52: Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga First replay since I beat it on release 2 years ago, I know its divisive - I still love this game and Senua as a character. Can't wait for next year.
Game #51: TEETO I freaking LOVED this game. If you like 3D Platformers, go play it now. That is all.
Game #50: DMC: Devil May Cry I've never played a Devil May Cry game and I understand this sits in its own continuity - but damn, did I have a blast. It was the only Ninja Theory game I'd never played. Anyone that says Ninja Theory can't do combat - see Exhibit A. A stellar action game.
Kyoto Xanadu releases this week in Japan. We still have no idea when it’s releasing “this summer” or who the western publisher is… What’s going on Falcom
Obviously money is tight - but what game developers do you always show up to support on day one? My list: 1. Asobo 2. @remedygames.com 3. @ninjatheory.com 4. Nihon Falcom (Of course my beloved “Tales of” series but no official studio for them anymore)
Game #49: VARLET FuRyu make what I would call.. C Tier JRPGs and Varlet is no different. A fantastic combat system, an interesting enough story, let down by lackluster social sim elements and an incredible amount of padding. Strong start, but drags. Monark is their better school JRPG.
Game #45: Junkster A charming, unique, fun 3D platformer. Full review coming soon on @savethegamemedia.bsky.social
Game #44: Star Ocean First Departure R A game I almost dropped due to difficulty spikes. Had to use a guide to maximize money/levels and some dungeons but Love the aesthetic, characters and story. Just wish these games weren’t so obtuse. Miss out on so many characters/moments
Probably the only game we didn’t see this week that I’m waiting for a release date on Fingers crossed it’s not delayed but no idea where it could even come out
Would be strange to rate a game if it’s not coming to the platform. Will find out shortly
Game #42: Directive 8020 Lots of potential with some cool sci-Fi plot points but mediocre stealth mechanics and some strange writing muddles the experience. At the bottom of the Dark Pictures ranking (along with Little Hope) for me.
Game #41: Bubsy 4D My first Bubsy game, while not purrrfect - I had a good time. I found Bubsy funny, level design could've been better, right amount of collectibles for what is, a short game (3.5 hours) but at a cheap price. Speed running isn't my thing but hope this isn't the last of Bubsy
Game #40: The Clubies A cute, puzzle platformer. Some frustrating moments as the game is clearly designed for co-op and not solo.
I can’t believe it. 22 years, more than half my life. A season of highs and lows. Premier league champions once again. #COYG
Game #39: Mixtape A totally fine and inoffensive game. Great soundtrack, boring gameplay, really dislike the writing and characters. Didn’t connect with me at all unfortunately.
Can finally say I’ve been playing Dark Light: Survivor! Full thoughts on Shared Save tonight! It’s out in early access now but if you’re a fan of “survivor like” games looking for something more hands on - this is it! (Code provided)
Game #34: DISPATCH Might be a hot take? Easily the most overhyped game in recent memory. A totally fine, yet unremarkable game. I didn't mind the hero Dispatch minigame. But most characters were unlikeable, not helped by some bad dialogue. Needed more romance options.
Game #33: Mouse: P.I. For Hire A mixed bag overall - really great boomer shooter gunplay (although - only 3 of the guns are actually worth using imo) and fantastic unique art style But - waaay too much dialogue, an overly serious dull story despite some good one liners and cheese puns.
Game #32: PRAGMATA What. A. Game. A 360-era experience in the best way. Unique, engaging gameplay. Awesome side content and a fantastic character driven story to boot. 100% every area because I didn't want it to stop. Visually stunning on PC. Only critique is final boss difficulty spike.
Game #31: Ereban: Shadow Legacy (PS5) Embargo is up, can finally say I've been playing and beat it. Code provided - game came out 2 years ago, but is coming to consoles! Full review soon on @savethegamemedia.bsky.social
One of my favorites from last year! Made my Top 10 Thanks for the shout though!
Game #30: Origament: A Paper Adventure Full review coming soon over on @savethegamemedia.bsky.social Sumamry: Delightful
