THE best ever cover version ? My copy has turned a bit beige over the years.
Another gaping void in my collection was filled a wee while ago when I picked up a copy of this belter. So #nowplaying is Siouxsie & the Banshees with ‘Kaleidoscope’. Another I was unable to buy back then due to financial constraints. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
What an album this is..!! Probably in my top 10 ever. Had it back in the day but apparently it never made the journey of time with me. Had to re-buy it a few months ago. Play it a lot.
Game changer for sure. It’s also stood the test of time very well. Never tire of it and still play it regularly.
This was my musical ‘sliding doors’ album when my pal played it for me when it came out. Opened my eyes to this ‘punk/new wave’ thing that was happening. Probably my ‘desert island disc’ too. Still play it regularly.
Here’s another album that I never quite got round to buying in my youth, so been looking to pick up a copy in the last few years. Finally got my hands on one this weekend so #nowplaying is the self titled debut album by Blondie. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
Great tune. Another one of EC’s that I had to work my way back to after discovering him during the ‘This Year’s Model’ period. Here’s my copy of the single.
What an absolutely glorious album this is. I think I even like it more now than ever. Needs played very loud.
Great tune. Dury was a fantastic lyricist. I bought this in the 12” version. Here’s my copy.
Not the most played Simple Minds album around these parts, but very much shows signs of greater things to come. So #nowplaying is their debut album ‘Life in a Day’. A very creditable introduction. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
A nice gentle tune from the fabulous Stranglers. I’m sure there’s a dark theme to the lyrics if you look hard enough. I haven’t looked, TBF. Here’s my original copy.
Here’s another record I’ve not played in ages so #nowplaying is ‘Faith’ the 3rd album by The Cure. Very much in the vein of its brilliant predecessor ‘Seventeen Seconds’. That’s no bad thing, TBF. Great album. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
Tonight feels like a Bunnymen kinda night so #nowplaying is ‘Porcupine’ by the ever wonderful Echo & the Bunnymen. Today this is my favourite album of theirs, but tomorrow it will be something different. Hey ho. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
Two top tunes on one single. What a classic of the genre. I had the opening lyrics of ‘Straitened Out’ painted on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager too.
Fantastic album. I actually discovered EC via ‘This Year’s Model’ and worked my way back to his earlier stuff. Very worthwhile. Probably don’t play this as much as I should though.
Look what you made me do…..or I probably should have said ‘Look Wot You Done’ 😉
This album was played to death in my house in my formative years. Absolutely love it. Somehow the original copy, that belonged to my oldest brother, has long since left the building. Had to get myself another copy a couple of years ago.
Not had this on the turntable in an absolute age, so #nowplaying is ‘White Music’ by the criminally underrated XTC. I really thought they were going to be massive. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
Outstanding album. Just wish circumstances were different and there were many more to follow this.
And what I debut it is, absolutely wonderful. Bought it when it came out and still play it regularly.
Right, I’m back. The story takes a bit of believing already and, having just been there, if someone had told me they had done it I’d have been convinced they were lying. Check this out 😳
Absolutely tremendous album. Yet another that financial constraints meant I couldn’t buy back in the day. Eventually got myself a copy recently. Love it.
Absolutely top tune, that. Here’s my copy. Don’t think it’s a first press. Still sounds great..!!
What a tremendous tune. One of my favourite cover versions. Bought the 12” single when it came out.
Inspired by someone else’s post on here the other day, #nowplaying is ‘More Songs About Buildings and Food’ by the incomparable Talking Heads. Fabulous album. @punkandnewwave.bsky.social @scotspostpunk.bsky.social
Haha…fair point. Doesn’t apply to me, though. 🎶“There’s only one United and that’s a fuckin biscuit”🎶 😂
Great tune. Bought this single, but I think it’s the only Sham 69 record I ever owned. Here’s my copy.
