Walked down to seaham food fayre. Bought Balefire hot sauces and a honeyed spiced rum. Ate a cheese and pickle topped pork pie then a tangy Malay pork and rice thing. Walked home. Which was nice.
Out on the battlefields of the FWW. With trench warfare behind them & open country out in front, 4th Nov, Wilfred Owen, hugely talented poet gets it. Ors Canal. bridging it. Chaos. He tried 2cross on a raft leading his men. Machine-gunned. Dead. Mam gets the telegram morning of 11th Nov 1918. Grim.
