Our first port was Ketchikan, the salmon capital of the world. Check out the water in the creek to see!
Now that I’m back on land, let’s talk about my Alaska cruise! Sailing out of Vancouver is always a treat!
This exhibit at the Royal BC Museum about indigenous languages was AMAZING! You can press a button to hear a greeting in dozens of local dialects!
Is there any place more beautiful than Butchart Gardens? I mean, wow.
Had a blast kayaking Victoria Harbor yesterday, and making new seal friends.
Strolling past the BC Legislative Assembly. Victoria is a lovely city!
On this Friday at the end of July, I just want to express my gratitude for everyone who has clicked on even a single article. I take a ton of pride in my writing, and am humbled that 60% more people have read articles this year than all of last year combined. Thank you, everyone.
Los Angeles appreciation Stop 2: Little Ethiopia. I ate awesome food, had a traditional coffee ceremony, and popped into a cool Ethiopian market. (I may have bought more coffee.) #TravelAddicts #California #LosAngeles
This week, I decided to do a few things to better appreciate my home of Los Angeles. Stop 1: the Petersen Automotive Museum. Cool cars, expensive cars, famous cars. Yes, that’s the Back to the Future Time Machine! #TravelAddicts #Cars #LosAngeles #California
A good night at the Hollywood Bowl. Classical music is good for the soul. Beats whatever lies he was spouting.
A Sunday with chicken and waffles is better than one without.
Post or repost a #Bridge from your photography or artwork. Peace Bridge, Calgary, Canada.
Praying for Palestine… totally fine. Changing history to make Jesus and Mary into Palestinians… not fine. They were Jews. But I’m sure few on here have any issue with this since most of you don’t seem to care, because hating Jews is “in” right now on both sides of the political spectrum.
While every night at the Hollywood Bowl is glorious, seeing The Beach Boys was truly special. These songs have meaning to my life, and getting to sing along with Mike Love, John Stamos, and the band was awesome.
This is what an ally looks like. Glendale, CA’s first ever pride march! Love is love, people are people, community is for all. @glendaleout.bsky.social #Pride
Yeah, Banff is pretty awesome - and awesomely pretty. You should try to get here if you can. Below are Moraine Lake and Lake Louise.
Planespotting at Maho Beach is an intrinsic part of a Sint Maarten experience. (Landing is more fun, as takeoff leads to sand blasting.) @visitstmaarten.bsky.social
Another awesome Sint Maarten sunset. I love this place! @visitstmaarten.bsky.social
Local beers and a beach view. Evenings here at @seaviewhotelsxm.bsky.social are something special! @visitstmaarten.bsky.social #TravelAddicts
Sint Eustatius used to have a large Jewish community. The ruins of this synagogue is all that remains. Haunting and beautiful. It was built in 1739 from yellow bricks used as ballast on merchant ships. #TravelAddicts
If you’ve heard of Sint Eustatius, chances are it’s for an event that took place here at Fort Oranje on Nov 16, 1776. An American brig offered a salute to the fort, which responded in kind. It is considered the first official recognition of the United States. The flagpole was dedicated by FDR.
When life takes you to Sint Eustatius, or anywhere in the Caribbean, you find Johnny cakes and salt cod. This version at Breeze is one of the best I’ve had.
Fort de Windt sits at the southernmost tip of Sint Eustatius. You can see St. Kitts in the background.
Some people are a bit scared flying in tiny planes, like this 20 seat DHC-6. Me? Give me the front and a view into the cockpit! 18 minutes of joy with WinAir!
Can’t complain about this view last night. @visitstmaarten.bsky.social
One of the best parts of being in a place like Grand Case is that it is a full part of France. This means fine French dining. My meal at Ocean 82 was my favorite, with this snapper Ballantine (with foie gras sauce) a perfect dish! And the view was solid, too.
