(My moniker is from the Sparks song)(I am a scrap on the heap of life)(new year, new profile pic) I enjoy parentheses.
One of my favorite buildings here in Portland is on fire. I’m very sad. It was one of the last recognizable parts of that area in NW that I loved to wander around in the early 2000s as an industrial & undeveloped open space. Now it’s rich yuppies, glass & steel condos & manicured dog park.
I was at the Bicentennial as a kid in DC. I’ve seen plenty of mid & large scale fireworks. Not really a fan. But the small town display I saw in Rock Hill,SC— while standing on a small bridge over railroad tracks— was a genuinely sweet experience. Rock Hill,SC 2010
Thank you—it absolutely does! I’ll feel it all tomorrow when it’s calm—delayed processing is my jam. Obligatory cat tax.
I’m watching the AP press live stream of DC fairgrounds being evacuated & boy howdy— I wanna see hale & wind destroy the arch. Richmond,VA 2011
South Carolina 2009/2010: Circus, war reenactment, & South of the Border store window
South Carolina 2009: “World’s Largest American Flag” (according to promoters) and “World’s Largest Underwear” vs Marines.
DC 2009-more from the Tea Party rally. I was visiting family & decided to go take photos of the rally like a curious masochist. On the SRO metro , one old white boomer yelled out “There better not be any Democrats in here—we’re coming to get you!”
Seeing this smoking conspiracy woman in DC 2009 prepared me for Q-Anon & MAGA. Photo2: Why the DNC & libs in general didn’t take the ramifications of the Tea Party seriously——they have ProCapitalism in common.
🧵I take photos of various themes & today I’m sharing some of the American American ones. This is from DC, 2009–I was visiting for the weekend anyway & went to the major Tea Party rally to see/photo for myself. At one point I was surrounded by a crowd of tea partiers screaming: WHO DO YOU WORK FOR
Happy Caturday: Betty has it out for Eeyore, I guess. (the two pandas at the bottom are her BFFs)
Betty’s staring at me until I notice, get up, and go stand with her while she eats. She will & has eaten on her own, daily. But she reeeeeeealllllly prefers it & eats more if I’m standing with her.
(Whenever this brand of cancer sauce is mentioned I remember this photo I shot in 2012/DC.)
Sorry for the poor 35mm print/quality but it’s from 1982 & I was a teen seeing Siouxsie & the Banshees and nervous because I was going to interview them after the gig.
