Lafayette guard Babe Rinehart became one of the first outside-of-the-Ivy-Leaguer players to gain All-America recognition from selector Walter Camp. Rinehart was the steadying influence on the unbeaten Leopard team of 1896, which chartered victories over such powers as Virginia, Penn and Navy, and held mighty Princeton to a scoreless tie in posting an 11-0-1 record. Rinehart garnered All-America honors again in 1897, as team captain. Years later, Parke Davis, an authority of football's Pioneer Era, named Rinehart to his All-Time All-America first-team, while New York Sun football editor George Trevor hailed Rinehart as, "one of the great guards of the era." The only two guards Trevor placed ahead of Rinehart were the immortal Hall of Famers Pudge Heffelfinger of Yale and Truxton Hare of Penn. Rinehart graduated from Lafayette with a degree in Civil Engineering and went on to become president of a tire manufacturing firm, a position he held at the time of his death in 1933.

The Snow Leopard award (Russian: Снежный барс) was a Soviet mountaineering award, given to highly skilled mountaineers. It is still recognized in the Commonwealth of Independent States. To receive this award, a climber was required to summit all five peaks within the former Soviet Union with elevation above 7,000 m (23,000 ft).

The front cover of the album is a photograph, taken on 4 July 1971 on the way from Sheffield to Leicester, of the band apparently having just collectively urinated on a large concrete pillar protruding from a slag heap. The idea to shoot the picture came from Entwistle and Moon discussing Stanley Kubrick and the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. According to photographer Ethan Russell, only Townshend actually urinated against the pillar, so rainwater was tipped from an empty film canister to achieve the desired effect. Most of the height of pillar has now been buried, and the area converted to farmland. It is marked on Google Maps as Who’s Next Monolith, and its what3words location is send.refreshed.rainy. The pillar is “a drain built into the spoil heap from Bond’s Main colliery to help prevent landslips”. The sky in the background was added later by John Kosh, who was the art director, to give the image what Russell called "this other worldly quality". The rear cover shows the band backstage at De Montfort Hall, Leicester, amid a cluttered mess of furniture. In 2003, the television channel VH1 named the cover of Who's Next one of the greatest album covers of all time.
