Realized all the old photographs and postcards I’ve been collecting all my life will be in the same shoeboxes when I die. Seems dumb, so out they come.
Happy to be working with pictures again after many years of focusing on words. It’s so fun to play w arrangement & feel the right choice in my body. Get excited abt the juxtaposition or the angle. And what peace to move them around in silence.
Getting up the nerve to cut up this old book for collage. I feel Iike it’s watching me from my desk as I sleep, silently begging to be left in one piece.
Looked online to see how early we could mow the lawn and found out it’s illegal to cuss on Main Street and throw a snowball anywhere in this town
Received two rejections while touring Herman Melville’s house. The tour guide said during his time, the world was just not ready for Moby Dick.
Looked in the cemetery for my grandpa’s people. Found a monarch and some mosquitoes. Ate Italian sandwiches in the store attached to the post office.
Bought the kid a handheld combination radio/TV from 1985 at a roadside antique store. Told him if he can make it work he can watch it in his room.
Today I’m feeling lucky I found someone who takes pictures of me taking pictures of the sunset
I saw a lady on the ferry bending over a map, hands smoothing it out, feet straddled, grey hair behind her ear. Alone. Backpack. I stared and stared. Burning her image for later in case I forget what makes me happy.

A giant hawk in this cemetery coasted from a sunny gravestone to a boulder near some bushes and stood there white-chested as if we couldn’t see him in the shade. Ladybugs bit our sweaty necks. We read the names aloud.
It rained lightly while we learned abt colonial living. A pig screamed at us. Winding winding roads.
There is a heron fishing right down there at the end of that little trail to the water. I scared him away once but I can hear him back splashing like a giant dad doing cannonballs 🤫
