Last night I worked out how to write an excel formula that can calculate the likelihood of any possible result for any possible combination of dice (at least from 1D4 to 17D12), which is objectively the cleverest thing I've ever done. But it has also left me like this.
Day 148: Finished with Artwod's 'Intro to Figures' path! Really feel like I've learnt a lot and improved a crazy amount. The legs are a little shorter/chunkier than they should have been, and I did have to ken-doll the model as I needed to upload the image to the Artwod submissions thing. >.>
Day 142/143: Spent a few days powering through figures, posing, and body-type classes on Artwod. Weirdly it felt like a bit of a step back, but ultimately beneficial, I think.
Day 141: Really starting to get a hang of figure drawing now. Still far from perfect, and I've not touched actual anatomy or line weight yet, but I'm very happy with it. Everything is making more sense and becoming easier ever since I started, y'know, micro-dosing speed on the daily.
This is the closest I've got to a bondage sesh in a very long time. (I'm fine - I have to monitor my heart for my ADHD meds)
Day 100: Random heads! I started reading 'Fun With a Pencil' by Andrew Loomis, these are the first few exercises. Though ngl, I feel like he skips over some things. >.>
Day 99: A mess. >.> I was trying to draw some statues I saw in Kamakura but they ended up being much more complex than I'd anticipated. But still a useful learning experience.
Day 98: How to divide panes into 3, 4, 5, and 6 equal segments. I sat down to draw something completely different, but decided I needed some new reference materials instead.
Day 97: Harvey, the Harvestborn Harvest Cleric, my character for Crooked Moon (a D&D campaign by Legends of Avantris). I miiiiiight do more work on this one later/tomorrow, but it'll do for now. I didn't do the fiddle because it got messed up in terms of angle. >.>
Day 96: Further studies in pumpkinology. Adding Jack Pumpkinhead (Return to Oz), The Pumpkin King (Nightmare before Christmas), and a pile of pumpkins because I couldn't work out how to draw the wedges. (I'm designing a Pumpkin-headed person for a TTRPG session >.>)
Day 94/95: Pumpkinmon, from Digimon. Drawn over two days as I was having a teensy tiny mental health crisis yesterday. Weird how something can feel like absolute garbage one day then feel like the best thing I've done to-date the next. >.>
Day 90: Trying out some environmental/perspective stuff, starting with some mountains. The mountains themselves I understood, but putting the trees in front of them got me slightly lost. 😅
Day 89: Forgot to actually post this yesterday, but a super quick sketch of Hollow Knight. Really wish my brain would let me do anything more than 'super quick sketches', but oh well. >.>
Day 88: Some Pig Pokémon sketches I want to try designing my only little chibi TiePig mascot so I figured this would be a good place to start for ideas
Day 87: Blue Rhapsody of Kingdom Hearts, trying out two different methods of shading. Still haven't actually looked at any sort of colouring stuff so still absolutely no idea what I'm doing here. 😅
Day 86: just the briefest sketch to practice dynamic posing before I jump back into my art classes next week.
Day 85: An attempt at my new D&D character (Henge, a stone golem shaped like a lizard man) that I gave up on. Struggling to get out of my head atm. >.> Post-Japan depression + still not having ADHD meds = Very moody unmotivated Nathan.
Day 84 (I decided to just keep counting from where I dropped off instead of starting again or working out how many days I'd missed) An attempt at drawing a peacock statue I saw in Japan, but I gave up when I remembered how fucking hard birds are to draw >.>
Day ??: So my plan to draw every day even while travelling Japan went about as well as I'd expected. >.> But I'm home now and back to the grind! Starting with some basic scribbles while I refresh my memory on how to use my art pad.
Flying over the arctic circle really takes some of the sting out of having to return to this wretched little island.
