Reading Strumpet City pushed me to explore Irish writing in a much more systematic way and ultimately led to me teach courses in Irish fiction (though I’ve still never taught Strumpet City).

Thanks, Gabino! Since the All Star break just ended, I want to share my two nonfiction baseball books: 100 MILES OF BASEBALL (co-written with Heidi LM Jacobs) and MAKESHIFT FIELDS. Both take the reader to baseball far outside the major leagues.
