Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #UnusualPlaces any bird that turns up in a place where you wouldn't normally expect to see it! Eastern Phoebe sitting on my garden fence. 🦉
Glaucous-winged gull trying to figure out how to eat a Starfish, I’m not sure he ever figured it out. 🦉
The last place I would have expected to see my first Black Oyster Catcher was on a rock that is on an Iceberg in the middle of Glacier Bay Alaska. Not a great pic, it was at a distance and the boat was moving.
Pelagic cormorant and Short Tailed Shearwater’s from the Cruise Ship. Spotted several Auk’s as well, that makes 6 lifers so far this trip. 🦉
Went to the Alligator River Wildlife drive looking for bears, found 10 bears and a Red Wolf!
If a Great Egret poses for you are required to take its picture. It’s the LAW! Bodie Island Lighthouse.
Spotted a Great Crested Flycatcher while wandering around Ocracoke Island NC.
#BirdOfTheDay theme is #SilentPresence. Laughing Gull watching the waves roll in. Rodanthe NC.
We have House Wrens nesting in a bird house hanging in the tree by our patio! It has been a few years since they last nested here. I have posted this video a few years ago when they last nested here, same box. I am worried about the House Sparrows so I ordered a hole reducer.
We will be in Seattle mid July and hopefully will be able to get out to do some birding, Stellar Jay is at the top of my list. All we get are these guys.
#TenMinMerlin 53F and Sunny, a spectacular May morning. 20 Birds this morning, all the normal suspects.
#TenMinMerlin 63F and cloudy, 19 birds this morning. The mystery of the Worm Eating Warbler is solved! Merlin is picking up a Chipping Sparrow as the WEW. As I was setting up to record I heard the Sparrow and saw Merlin pick it up as the WEW. Everything else was expected.
#TenMinMerlin 60F cloudy, 20 birds this morning, the Purple Martin and the Broad Wing Hawk are new and not usally in my neck of the woods. A Tennessee Warbler is still around. No Frigatebird, it was spotted very early this morning and then moved on.
#TenMinMerlin 56F and rainy, 13 birds this morning, the sounds of late Spring here in NE Ohio. Most of the migrants to the wind from the storms and moved north.
@alan678.bsky.social theme for today's #BirdOfTheDay is #Grassland, a Clay Colored Sparrow in the grass and Dandelions. 🦉
#TenMinMerlin 40F and cloudy, 18 birds this morning, some Warblers still around.
#TenMinMerlin 67F and rainy, 17 birds this morning, again nothing unexpected. The Summer birds are getting settled in.
