Somewhere in Chicago, working near the intersection of immigration law, data, and technology. Not an attorney! 287(g) Program Tracker: tituslegaldesign.com/immigration-101/287g-program Newsletter:
Other large urban counties that haven't joined the program but are neighbored by participating counties: Most of the large metro counties in Texas ⤵️ bsky.app/profile/titu...
The Fishers PD doesn't participate, but the Hamilton County sheriff (where Fishers is located) signed a jail enforcement model agreement last March. Like many urban counties in red/purple states, Indianapolis' county government (Marion County) has not signed on, while surrounding counties have.
This is a bit strange. According to the @pressherald.com live updates, a CBP official said the agency wasn't involved in today's shooting — but also said CBP officers "did offer medical support" at the scene. So...CBP officers were there, but weren't involved? www.pressherald.com/2026/07/13/s...
Also, he loves writing about Yglesias as a bastion for level-headed policy. Again, certainly a choice.
Is Lavrentiy Beria writing these? From March: "Franklin County Sheriff AJ Tony Smith said, 'Getting to partner with ICE under the 287(g) agreement means we can continue to protect the citizens in Franklin County from criminal illegal aliens. Thank you, CFO Ingoglia, for reimbursing us (...)'"
The first 9 days of July in the Chicagoland area, according to ICEout.
This is the type of medical research that the current regime is destroying as we speak. Dismantling NIH funding. Immigration restrictions that have emptied research labs. This is personal.
Another arrest confirmed in west Humboldt Park, with two more waiting for confirmation.
Lots of ICE activity in Chicago and the suburbs today. Four arrests were just confirmed in Brighton Park + Back of the Yards by the SW side rapid response team.
I like to think the formatting here is intentional, as if Tocqueville is appalled by what he just read and is asking for clarification.
This reminded me to check in on John Kass and...yep, still the same angry bigot pushing out drivel and shouting at clouds!
I'm fairly confident this is not an opt-in system that gets a lot of traffic.
Put another way: Over 51 million U.S. residents live in one of the 509 counties with an active Task Force 287(g) agreement. And nearly 10 million residents live in the 805 municipalities with local-level Task Force agreements.
And here's that same map filtered for the 509 county agencies with Task Force agreements. In these jurisdictions, it's reasonable to presume at least some of the sheriffs' deputies are designated as "Task Force officers" (TFOs) that can make immigration arrests during routine traffic stops.
How does the 287(g) program expand the 'top of funnel' intake into the deportation machine? Here's a filled area map of the 847 U.S. counties with county-level agencies (again, mainly sheriffs' offices) participating today. That's nearly 27% of the 3,144 counties (and parishes) in the country.
Kubicki has a large following thanks to his newsletter on AI in the legal field. Here's what he had to say about Karp today: "But there is more to it as that's not a man losing it; it's a man who doesn’t succumb to theatrics and playing it safe and just tells you the truth at speed." Jfc.
Over on LinkedIn, a legal tech evangelist and Josh Kubicki (a professor at Indiana Law) are praising "Dr. Karp" for his appearance on Squawk Box this morning. This is the legal establishment. Privileged men, genuinely convinced their careers are more important than what's happening around them.
With 12 added today, ICE has signed more 287(g) agreements in June 2026 than any other calendar month in the program's history. 177 agreements added since June 1st. And 473 added since April 1st, making it the largest 3-month gain as well. www.tituslegaldesign.com/immigration-...
At least 20 people have died in ICE custody since Jan. 1st, which means 2026 is already tied with 2005 as the 3rd deadliest year in the agency's history. It's not even July. maxwellcommons.substack.com/p/2033-law-e...
