Did not get a good pic, but if you find yourself in Concord, MA, Orchard House, home of LMAlcott’s dad Bronson is well worth visit. Both setting for Little Women and where she wrote it; most furnishings and artwork from her time
Cocktails that appear to be toxic waste at 80 Thoreau, Concord MA. Looked disgusting, but in truth very nice
Henry Ford’s retro gristmill at the 17c Wayside Inn, Sudbury, MA (inspiration for “Pepperidge Farm” logo)
Inscription on 1836 Concord North Bridge monument; 21 years after the Battle of New Orleans
Something in the water: L.M. Alcott. Louisa gets an American Legion veteran's flag marker for her service as a nurse with the Union army in the Civil War. All of these close together in Sleepy Hollow Cem
Well-preserved fine print on slate; easy to carve but chemically stable compared to marble/limestone which slowly dissolves in rainwater (esp. acid rain)
Old New England slate tombstones (reset multiple times as soil creep on hillside topples these once every couple of generations) Old Hill Burying Ground, Concord, MA. Slate has held sharp inscriptions for 250+ years
This one is also in the New Orleans Garden District www.scenichudson.org/viewfinder/t...
Contemporaneous house and live oaks? Actually, this house was turned 90 degrees so that the front is now on the side - had something to do with selling off a part of their original lot if I recall correctly
