I started a petition that gathered 100+ signatures from my community. I shared it with friends & neighbours & connected with @cycletoronto.bsky.social & Cycle Don Valley Midtown who worked with the councillor's office & staff. What started as an idea I had, became reality a year later in July 2021.
Five years ago today, concrete curbs were installed on bike lanes along Thorncliffe Park Drive; Thorncliffe Park being the neighbourhood I grew up in Toronto. What makes that special to me is that it all started when I was just 15 years old. (A thread worth reading ↓).
I’m so tired of this, I don’t even have the energy to respond about how awful these headlines are I’ve been seeing it everywhere lately with cyclist deaths.
A few years ago, I wrote down in my notes app “lack of bike parking” as a cycling issue in the city. A quiet but vital issue. I wrote it down in hopes that one day, I’d pursue the fix. No one else was going to push for it. Neither the city nor the property owners. That’s why I created BPAT.(1/2)
I was taking a look at my bike lane renderings I’ve made over the past few years and grieving that almost all of them are not possible anymore under our stupid premier.

Just a reminder that THIS is what we were supposed to get. Now staff are watering down an already watered down plan No ambition, no courage, and not even listening to the thousands of people who’ve asked for pedestrianized spaces in the city. Instead, Yonge will be car-choked. We will raise hell.
I feel like Toronto’s regretting having a vehicle that constrains the flow of passengers this bad. Single doors means one at a time. Getting off the train is also nearly impossible at busy times. There’s just very little circulation. This was from opening day. Imagine during actual rush hour.
I have so much to say about my time here in CDMX. The urban planning, the transportation systems and complete streets. Shits on Toronto any day. Our politicians are cowards.
It’s not very reassuring that my first impression of Line 6 is randomly opening up a livestream of someone riding it and the LRT doesn’t move for what feels like 2 whole minutes after the doors close, even at a far-side stop. Jfc.
And again, cameras wouldn’t be needed if every street in Canada was a street in the Netherlands but we don’t have money to make every street safe right now. Road design is crucial but cameras are a vital first step in bringing a safety and accountability culture in Canadian drivers, even if annoying
🚨🚨 City of Toronto is going to resurface Eglinton Ave between Keele and Mt Pleasant without the already approved bike lanes. We need to do something right now.
This is Crosstown-level bad, this and the East Don Trail. At least they’re transparent.
Why do people need to know it’s light rail? Also these signs were different a few months ago. Metrolinx’s Wayfinding standards keep on changing so often, that the Eglinton station signs have to keep on being replaced 😐. Great way to keep people employed I guess.
I’m not kidding, during my five days in the Netherlands, I only managed to find ONE stop sign.
I can assure you that building in the last picture is real. It didn’t even look real to me when I first saw it. Just don’t tell the tourists 😅.
Yeah so I went to the Netherlands for four days. Was one of the places I’ve dreamed about. Usually post all my photos and tidbits on my IG stories so I’m too lazy for a detailed thread unfortunately but it was INCREDIBLE. Amsterdam, The Hague, Haarlem, Keukenhof, Zandvoort Beach, Gouda and Utrecht
There’s this place I wanted to go to since I became a cycling advocate in 2020… I’ve dreamed of their streets.
Is NO ONE going to talk about the fact that Bloor-Yonge’s Platform Screen Doors are still unfunded in the modernization project, Everyone’s under the assumption they’ll be built but obviously no money, no doors.
I'm just upset that the TTC still hasn't updated their ugly bus information screens. Looks like someone made it in five minutes with Microsoft Paint.
