The EHRC Code of Practice has come into force in Parliament – but what does that mean?

The Government’s updated Code will now come into effect on 5th August 2026, following an order from the Minister for Women and Equalities. Existing guidance will be revoked and replaced by the new Code of Practice as statutory guidance.

New Victoria Hospital will no longer provide masculising gender-affirming surgery from December. We have been assured by NHS England that it is looking at alternative providers to continue this service, and that they will keep patients informed. transactual.org.uk/blog/2026/06...

TransActual is aware that NHS Gender Dysphoria National Referral Support Services (GDNRSS) has issued an email stating that New Victoria Hospital in London will no longer provide masculising gender-affirming surgery from December of this year.

We have been assured by NHS England that it is looking at alternative providers to continue this service, and that they will keep patients informed and up-to-date on this process.

This situation will ultimately lead to further delays for trans patients who have already spent years on waiting lists. Whilst NHS England could not control the decision by New Victoria Hospital not to renew the contract, they have a responsibility to act to minimise the harm of delayed care. Waiting lists for these surgeries are already unacceptably long.

We continue to ask that NHS England support and finance patients to medically transition abroad – in EU countries or beyond – rather than delay care further.

It does not support organisations that wish to remain inclusive.

It does not comply with the UK’s domestic and international human rights obligations.

Text reads: Despite repeated warnings that failing to defend trans people’s fundamental rights and protections would negatively impact the ability of trans people to participate in public life, the Prime Minister has not yet taken action.

How do sensory experiences and camouflaging behaviours impact the experience of transition and mental health of autistic transgender adults?

About the study: We are interested in exploring how sensory experiences and camouflaging (or masking) affect the transition experiences and mental health of autistic transgender adults.

Who can take part?
You can take part if:
• You are 18 years or over
• You are a trans man or trans woman
• You identify as autistic (diagnosed or self-identified)
• You have undertaken, or are currently undertaking any part of gender transition (social, hormonal, and/or surgical)
• You live in the UK

What to expect?
• A short demographics questionnaire
• A 45-60 minute interview. This can be done on Microsoft Teams or by telephone with the option to type your responses if preferred.

Text reads: In March NHS England launched a public consultation on their updated prescribing policy for gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) for trans youth.

The new policy says GAHT can no longer be accessed before the age of 18. It was based on NHS England evidence reviews that had no clear rationale and a deeply-flawed methodology.
