someday i should really revisit PQ93, my MoonScript-based fantasy console, and fix it up. thing is, TIC-80 is already fantastic and open source, and if folks want a closed source thing in active dev, there's Picotron! ^_^
Ducky Sokoban DX is out now on itch! ^_^ it comes with 23 packs of classic Sokoban levels from around the internet, for over 1,000 puzzles, and you can add more packs in the standard text format if you like 💙 link in reply!
fun, chill stream tonight ^^ we loaded an LDtk project with hotloads, did foreground and background layers, set up collision, set up a render target to avoid jaggies and rounding errors, etc.
possible colors? not set in stone, maybe leaning too purple but idk. 🤔
tried to come up with a new version of my pngtuber character, for streams 🤔 i imagine her skin being phosphorescent, like a luigi's mansion ghost?
tonight on stream we did some temp art and programmed some character animations ^^ the sprite is scaled up temporarily because the game window tends to be tiny on stream
animating is hard lol. have a sketch from this morning. not a specific character, just attempting to fit someone into the rough bounding box and see how it goes.
wanted to doodle some SMW-inspired tiles, gave myself an hour and this is how far i got ^_^
Tiled was a surprisingly effective editor for this use case. not perfect, but it stays the winner for being able to quickly duct tape a game together with despite your weird setup
spent most of today setting up soundtrack stuff for LINOVICTUS - trying to stay in keeping with the 2000s shareware game vibes, here's the album art! it's not perfect but it will have to do for now
These earnest, artisanal emails (and the linked Notion site, equally auspicious) were so compelling I had no choice but to write a reply. :)
I get a lot of emails from game composers, real and imagined, because I made some cool GIFs two years ago about Wizwag. Usually I just pocket these for later, since my wife makes most music for my projects and I'm broke anyway. But today I had a little fun with one of these. :)
LINOVICTUS is coming to Steam for summer Next Fest this year! Wishlist if you wanna be notified when the demo is out ^_^ (link in reply)
tried to come up with a fun data disk design. the idea is you'd plug in the corner to read it, and the thumb slider on top is to pop the cylinder out / lock it in place.
the actual drawings without in-game filtering look more like this lol
