The Temeraire series (Naomi Novik) is set in the 1800s & starts with a Navy officer whose life is upended by a newly hatched dragon. As the books go on, T. is loyal to England, but increasingly unhappy about how dragons are treated. Here he explains to other dragons why he still intends to fight.

A quote from Naomi Novik's book 'Victory of Eagles', part of her Temeraire series. It's set into a frame of a winter tree's twisted branches framing the Hudson river and the Catskill mountains beyond. The quote: "I do not mean to say anything for the Government at all," Temeraire said. "But this country is our territory as much as it is any man's; it belongs to us all together, and if we only sit here eating cows while Napoleon is trying to take it away, we have no right to complain of anything."

one of mine, from a photo I took of a hops field in Bavaria. 'Hopfenfeld', es begann als Foto, das ich in Bayern gemacht habe.

I’ve not been on a bike for decades and then my daughter got a last minute summer internship in Bremen, which is a fabulous city for biking w dedicated bike lanes everywhere.The commute to the internship was along the river promenade and we rode nearly every day - it was a joy.
