Hobgoblin, garden seer, first year law. She who must be obeyed/Herself.
Picking a bunch of the leaf lettuce before it totally goes over. After tearing and washing I pack it in gallon bags with an added paper towel, and it stays good for a long time.
First application of the Big Bag of Spuds: boiled with garlic, then tossed in olive oil and parsley. Butter would taste better but I'm having Mediterranean Diet ideas this morning. Monty Don taught me that you don't have to have these little guys perfectly clean before boiling.
My first seed dahlia flower of the year is cream-colored! Yay dahlia season!
22 pounds of sound potatoes out of a 4'x6' plot, all quite small. The plants died back very early this year, I'm not sure why. Oh well. These will be fun to eat. 🌱
This poor little dummy didn't just get his tail bitten, he got it broken and it had to come off. All the tears for the dumbest, best cat in the world, who is making a great recovery. (And who hasn't fought since he was fixed.)
Take comfort in the fucking miserable Statute of Frauds homework that never fucking ends. It's so... predictable. Predictable is comforting, right? That's good, right???
The Hunters in the Snow by Brueghel. Ever since I heard White Winter Hymnal, it plays in my head when I see this.
I finally, on July 7, got the last beans and squash into my 3 Sisters plot. Phhheeewwww. C'mon squash vines, shade out those weeds. I've hoed the plot by hand five times already.
The previous owners left plastic easter eggs all over the property. We're going to leave golf balls.
1. Cases and notes from the first 8 weeks. Contracts will need its own binder. 2. Almost used up a notebook!
There was a lot of rice left over from the fajita bowls, so it's fried rice night bitcheeeeeessss!!!
The lefthand border yesterday evening. June is preparatory, July is showtime.
Kittyboy has been having health drama. He's still happy and scampering, though. If you see him around, stop to give him scritchies-not-scratchies.
A month since we had him fixed, and we are pretty sure he hasn't gone back to the feral cat colony since. We haven't spotted his AirTag there, he hasn't been missing, and he hasn't come home blooded. Just a scratch on the nose that could have been roses or blackberries or who knows. Success.
