Lol right this is his dad on the left and his dad's dad on the right. They all look like clones of each other.
Every time I look at pictures of my grandfather or his dad, or his dad's dad, I'm reminded how strong the Palmisano genes are because why do we look exactly the same lmao...
Finally have a nice way to display all my geodes, rocks, minerals and meteorites.
Oh and as a lover of the B-17, casually finding out in this memoir that my grandfather almost ended our whole family line via a B-17 engine failure was quite the read. Really giving that flying coffin nickname a reason to exist haha.
Also now have an entire tin of negatives from WWII thanks to him having the foresight to stick each one behind the printed photo in his photo albums. Some of the photos look to have been lost over time so maybe there's some negatives of photos I haven't seen yet.
Today everyone in my family simultaneously learned that during basic training in Mississippi my grandfather and friends hunted and killed a wild boar with spears because they couldn't smoke lmao. (Just found his typed out memoir that he wrote as a soldier in WWII).
Finished making a shadow-box for my grandfather's older brother from when he served in WWII. I'm making one for my grandpa next but I'll need a better shadow-box for all his stuff.
I need everyone to stop and look at what I just found at an antique store for FOURTEEN DOLLARS. There is literally nothing wrong with it. In fact not only does it have every piece both inside and out, all the pieces function still, for a camera over 100yrs old this thing is PRISTINE!
One final thing that is just icing on the cake, is this man calling out all his friends in his preface for doubting if writing a book on the Rivera was worth his time. I know a hyper fixation/special interest when I see one lol.
My other favorite part about this guy is that at the end of the book, he lists every single question he still has from every chapter of his own book, then demands answers from naturalists studying it. This guy is actually unmatched in historical naturalist notes.
I think I have found the #1 hater of mosquitoes in history. Mind you the next 5 pages are dedicated to every possible method to keep them away that the author has ever heard. I unironically love this book and author. He wrote one book, this, for himself and it reads as so unbelievably catty lol.
Just found this bookmark in one of my old books (Rivera Nature Notes 1903). Anyone able to date this? Tried looking it up but couldn't find an exact match.
Just did a hard trim so it looks really rough, but the cover is almost fully spread across the tank.

I also got a BEAUTIFUL piece of purple jasper with iron banding. Something that only formed during the Precambrian age.
Just got the coolest package from my mom's cross country trip. She's visiting her cousin Bill's property in Utah and he had some specimens he was collecting that he found on his property (he's a geologist), and he had her mail them to me! I'm so happy, one of them is this BEAUTIFUL petrified wood.
