Noooo my identity
Kyle is done, Willow is next guest. She says back when she worked indies, she came home one day a little drunk and told her sister that one day she'd be "Top of the wrestles". Today she is top of the wrestles.
Tony says he's been part of one presser brawl recently with comic con and he asks Mike and Kyle not to do a second. And Mike is done. Bailey wants a handshake from Kyle, which he won't give.
ANGLE ALERT, KYLE FLETCHER IS HERE but off mic, next to a ketchup branded box type structure
Maya done. MIKE BAILEY HERE AND HE BROUGHT THE CLIPBOARD which gets chuckles. Tony with a very enthusiastic greeting for Mike.
The first guest is Maya World. THE SEATING SITUATION IS ALL DIFFERENT TONIGHT. UP IS DOWN, DOWN IS UP. I NEED A PARENT'S HELP.
It's the Redemption post-PPV scrum! You might be surprised, but Tony thought it was a great show.
25 human beings thought this was the best gimmick in all of wrestling in 1996. 25.
Oh God, they're finally doing an episode on me. CanCon laws have combined with a desperate lack of remaining topics to lead to my undoing.
Renee says Thekla is becoming her favorite wrestler. Tony says he must be a great boss to put up with her behavior. Our next guest, Will Ospreay, caked with dried blood. Renee says he smells like pennies. Austin Aries will interpret that differently to the rest of us.
Renee is here and now also Thekla, wearing Starlight Kid's mask. She says she's going to have 2 or 3 spicy margaritas and go to the strip club. Tony says at AEW they embrace her toxicity.
First guest is Mercedes, decked out in pink. She is excited to go to All In and challenge for the one title she's never held here. Says she used to hate London but has grown to love it.
Presser coverage starts here now. Renee is not here, she is doing backstage interviews.
It's nice that Walker Stewart is doing commentary on this AEW show but the world begs for Chris Charlton in some kind of Cole Mine situation:
"These allegations don't sound like the Tommy Dreamer I know". I get it, people are complicated things, but once you publicly admit "I was seriously considering doing a murder-suicide on TV before Jim Ross called me", maybe you can't be surprised by any story about a man anymore.
Happy 30th anniversary to the John Tenta/Big Bubba feud. It won the Observer's Worst Feud award, featured Tenta's immortal "I'm not a fish...I'm a man" promo, was almost entirely based around each man shaving the other, and prompted one of my favorite Observer passages:
My Tom Magee/Bret Hart holy grail is the uncut version of the Dustin Rhodes/Blacktop Bully "King of the Road" match from Uncensored 95. They wrestled in the back of a moving truck and it was widely panned, but the full version was supposedly good. WWE VAULT RELEASE THE SNYDER CUT
I remembered a lot of the Brian Pillman "Loose Cannon" saga but I forgot that he refused to break character when a hostage situation happened in his hotel.
MJF defeated Darby but his battle to keep his hair continues. Godspeed, we're all in the trenches with you, with our shampoos and special topicals.
Don't know if you could've taken a more unflattering photo of Kyle, to the point where 15% of me thinks it's a rib.
If you subscribe to the Observer. Or eventually I'll have a year in review column going over it. Or here:
I was not prepared to see this when I looked at the runners-up for the Wrestling Observer's 1995 "Promoter of the Year" award voting:
Turner was a giant of cable TV, and when wrestling became the first show to hit a million viewers on the emerging technology, it was on Ted's TBS. He never forgot that and stayed loyal for the rest of his career in television:
