Screw it. Made my own call to action. I wish I had a Kiwi policy example but I think the point stands. Young people need to register and vote or old people will decide their fate, then kick the bucket. vote.nz/enrol WDYT? Should I print a stack and plaster them all over Otago Uni? #nzpol

Wait. I thought you had to be a permanent resident? My husband is on a resident visa with no set leave date (afaik). He hasn't been here 12 months yet but I thought he had to wait for official PR status (~2 years)...? This popover is kind of light on details. Would love to be able to confirm.

Regular Americans do all the work, generating all the business success, and yet the very few in power - the rich and the corrupt - take it and leave most people struggling. It is long past time for us to stop being "obedient civil servants". (Page is from On Tyranny by @timothysnyder.bsky.social)

When political leaders set a negative example, professional commitments to just practice become more important. It is hard to subvert a rule-of-law state without lawyers, or to hold show trials without judges. Authoritarians need obedient civil servants, and concentration camp directors seek businessmen interested in cheap labor.

Show me any issue in society and I guarantee billionaires caused it, or are benefiting from it, or both. Tax the ultra wealthy into oblivion, then fund healthcare and education and programs that lift us all up as a society.

Love this small act of (I hope) resistance in Google Fonts, replacing "the quick brown fox..." with text from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Maybe it's not new but I appreciated it for this time in history...
