Trish Wilson is all about what scares you. Her short horror stories appear in numerous publications. As the former Media Director for The Horror Zine (now closed), she had interviewed Ramsey Campbell, Bruce Campbell, Joe Lansdale and more.
He's a little goofball. When we got him from the shelter, his name was Harley. We kept the name, which is fitting for him. He is a whirling dervish who NEVER sits still! We nicknamed him Harley Wallbanger. LOL 😼 Here's a pic of him.
Goodnight, #WeeknightWriters. I have to get my cat away from his peanut. Yes, he likes to chase peanuts when I toss them down the hallway. Easily amused (the cat, not me). LOL I'm also tired and my leg hurts a bit from sitting too long. Everyone have a great weekend, and I'll see you next week.
Thanks! I'm grateful beneath all the turmoil & pain. I know how good I have it. I also love where I live. It's a tiny, residential coastal town where the sidewalks roll up at 8 pm. Dry town - no liquor stores, but we have beaches, seafood, quaint shops, art, and tourists - and WIDOW'S BAY!
Thanks! I love that show, esp. since my husband & I saw all the local sites while watching it. I must take more pictures. Season 2 films early next year, maybe. I hope it's filmed here! Here's Half Moon Beach where I injured myself. Tom did his inaugural swim here. I see a story inspired by this!
#HorrorWritersChat My story WHEN THE ABYSS STARES BACK airs at Creepy Podcast in Oct for Halloween. Date coming soon. Anyone here love WIDOW'S BAY? It was filmed where I live! Here's Half Moon Beach in Gloucester, MA, where Tom took his inaugural swim. We're not really cursed. I promise. :)
Good afternoon, #HorrorWritersChat! Trish Wilson here. I was the Media Director for The Horror Zine, which recently closed. I write quiet horror and horror comedy. I don't have a favorite monster, but I have always loved Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion creations like the Ymir.
It was yet another great #WeeknightWriters. Thanks so much! I'm fading fast so I'm going to say "goodnight" now. It's 8 pm here. Time to hit the snooze button for the night. See everyone next Thursday!
#WeeknightWriters A4 - Keep the AC on! That will definitely make my life more pleasant. We'll go to a vintage baseball game Sunday. Rules are from 1864. No gloves. Throw the ball underhanded. You get one bounce per catch for an out. 1864 uniforms. Sometimes the umpire wears a top hat and tails! Fun!
Some movies have been filmed here (remember COMA, starring Genevieve Bujold?), but WIDOW'S BAY is the best and my favorite. It's cool seeing the local sites. Below is a pic of Bearskin Neck in Rockport, MA. Lots of kitchy shops. I live a few blocks from it. Nice area at the harbor. #WeeknightWriters
#HorrorWritersChat I had a blast as usual. I'm also feeling considerably better. The heat got to me, and I felt sick and pukey. Still a bit meh and tired, but most of it has passed. Now to eat Chinese and watch GRANTCHESTER. See all ya next week!
Thanks for another great #HorrorWritersChat, Gree! Here are two links to free stories: The Inn At The Edge of Blood and Ruin www.anotherealm.com/2023/ar01032... Willful Child www.aphelion-webzine.com/shorts/2022/...
#WeeknightWriters - Well, it's late and I'm fading fast. I had a blast here as I always do. Now, time to wind down and get ready for bed. Take care everyone and see you next Thursday!
For everyone including #HorrorWritersChat. Although The Horror Zine is now closed, you may still read it at The Wayback Machine (web.archive.org) Just plug in www.thehorrorzine.com and choose any month you like. Read!
WOO HOO! ACCEPTANCE! My short horror story WHEN THE ABYSS STARES BACK shall soon appear on a podcast. I'm psyched! I'll post again when I have more information. I'm doing the Happy Dance. Now, it's time to share some celebratory champagne with my husband. 🍾 🥂 #shortstories #podcast #horror
Yes, it's a Victorian Halloween tradition. I've seen the story online. Here's are images depicting it:
#WriteStuff A8 Another word I've been waiting for the opportunity to use is "Goodnight". I'll use it now. Until next week, everyone. Goodnight!
More Mother's Day silliness for the horror fans. Bonus points if you recognize the one with the little girl.
#WeeknightWriters Hey, everyone, I'm exhausted so I'm afraid I have to bug out for the evening. Here are two more pictures from Widow's Bay. One of Half Moon Beach in Gloucester, MA, and one of Lane's Cove, both near my home where it was filmed. Have a great weekend. Talk to you next week.
#WeeknightWriters A3 Two things - Feeling somewhat better and watching Widow's Bay. I love seeing the sights since I live where it was filmed. Small New England coastal town. Pix below. This is Bearskin Neck, in Rockport, MA. Full of touristy shops. Buildings are a couple hundred years old.
Thanks for the plug! There's an article about the Lemp Mansion in this issue. I've been there. It's in St. Louis, Missouri. Didn't see any ghosts but we did enjoy a fine dinner and I took pictures. Pretty cool place. Here are pix.
Blessed Beltane to those who celebrate! #beltane #maypole #wicca #flowermoon
Sometimes the pubs don't even send rejection letters. They leave you stranded. I like the rejections that give me notes. Those I cherish since I learn from them. I even have a "hurry up and wait" meme for submitting stories:
I would do the happy dance if I can get an interview with Peter Jackson! I've been a fan long before the Lord of the Rings movies. #WeeknightWriters
#WriteStuff My favorite job of all time is when I worked with IATSE Local 22. In addition to movies and TV, I worked a slew of concerts - The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, The Eagles, and more. I'm proud of 12 MONKEYS, HOMICIDE & DIE HARD 3. Great memories!
Take care, everyone. #HorrorWritersChat. See you next week. I'll still be laid up from hip surgery, but I'll be here. Enjoy the week and happy writing!
Potatoes are their own food group. My husband and I recently ate a potato that looked like Bruce from "Jaws". Here it is, with the steak to match. LOL
#WeeknightWriters I'm going to cut out now since I'm starting to feel a bit icky. I need more sleep. Going to watch more movies tomorrow. Been on a WWI kick as I said. If you like horror and haven't seen DEATHWATCH I highly recommend it. It's on Amazon for free for about a week. Very good movie.
