This was a lovely tall batch of chives, potted up so they could get used to being inside and I could enjoy fresh chives this winter. Ossie thought this was a great idea, and the bloody nibbler has them trimmed down to about 4”. I’m gonna have to make a plant cage I guess. Dang Destructo-cat.
I am sitting outside having coffee and first one, then two! woodpeckers show up on my willow tree. They do NOT HOLD STILL so in the very centre of this photo is, trust me, one of them. #BadBirdPhotos
Well happy 13th birthday to the terrible trio, da boiz, the big men. L -> R Ossie (Ocelot), Little Gray (Grayling) and Tippy (Tipperary). #cats #CatsOfBluesky #cat
My first cut, as it were, was fun but perhaps not quite as aligned as I would have liked 😆
Your mum & dad are inspiring! I took a linoprint class because I have such a collection of your mom’s prints!
Somewhere in yesterday's long threads on the Catholic schism - specifically @clairewillett.bsky.social and @rahaeli.bsky.social - there was a "big boat stuck" reference and while I can't find it now I thought about it all night...so.
I feel like we may have enough rain for the moment. It’s not that I don’t appreciate it, but all the water barrels are full and the ground is pretty soaked and I feel like the plants would love a few weeks of Sunshine.
I liked this post to remind myself to send you this little dickens (outside the window of my elder’s care home room) just helping themselves from the plants in the courtyard garden!
Here’s a collection: an auntie and cat-mom hug from me, direct cat hugs, and a grandma hug from my mom! 💙💜
I’m sitting on the couch, and this is happening at the foot end (as it were). Third cat is nowhere to be found, which is probably just as well honestly. I’ve don’t even know. #cat #cats #CatsOfBluesky
One built, one to go. Garden boxes for the deck, a cheap clearance from Peavey a few years ago. Decided I could use them this year. Wood is cedar and smells amazing! Everything dovetails so just using a hammer to tap things in to start. Strawberries? Herbs? Tomatoes? WHO KNOWS!!
After several hours of waiting and 10 minutes of surgery, the cyst is yeeted. I’m having an apple fritter and a nap, in that order.
Got books (probably more than I needed), spices from Silk Road, and had all our good knives sharpened at Knifewear. They donate part of that money to Pride orgs in every city they have a shop in all June, so get your knives done! Also, very stabby Pride sticker swag as an excellent bonus.
Also, yard moose. About 10 feet away, but I’m in the house and they are outside.
Another favourite #yeg spot - Woodwork. Great food and really cool cocktails! This one is perfect for this weirdly hot May evening.
Edmonton! I made it. I am way out of practice with driving long road trips. #yeg
...something interesting to a largish group. I'd say look at subjects that focus in on people, programs, policies (broadly). For ex, if you do a search for refugee women maternity (just those words, no order/area) you'd get quite a variety (see below) happy to assist if I can
After a few years of thought and delay and research and anxiousness and saving and and and… …waving farewell to a very good unit.
For folks replying who are a bit uncertain about alt text, you can search "how to write alt text" for ideas, but here's a good start. You can set your account to require alt text on images before you post, so you never forget. You have to transcribe text in an image - screen readers just see image.
EXCITING NEWS yesterday’s crocuses have a visitor today! I love spotting the first ladybugs and bees, and now that I hopefully have these first crocuses established I’ll see more. #invertifest #bee #crocus #insect
Feels like we can be confident in spring, the very early emergences are starting. Lots of leaf litter that I haven’t cleaned up yet. #saskatchewan #yqr #spring
People who build permanent finish boxes around teleposts where the ground likes to tango (hello Regina Plains gumbo) between wet & dry years should have to come undo their decisions with their TEETH. Including the bit of wood at the top that blocks the turn hole.
I’m not linking, but I’ve dug a bit and whoosh. Block this one. Do not follow the links to their “more serious writings” page. Disturbed nonsense, and would damage a lot of stressed psyches. Just…block.
Oh I really really really want to try these…we’re zone 3 so it’s *possible* they’d overwinter. So tempting. I could even try some in a container vs garden box, see if there’s any difference.
