"I heard you were taking a nap unsupervised! I'm here to save the day"
I'm here to help him tell the difference between pretty much any actor with a face (yes, that IS indeed all of them), and he's here to help me remember song names from vague descriptions.
Hannah's roommate was playing game called Life is Strange; I spotted this water bottle in it. The label actually says "Water" on it, but the design looks like it's referencing a few real life brand labels! It looks overall closer to ice mountain, but the overall green vibe is very poland spring.
Hanging with my friend Eliza today in the Barnard College archives, having fun embodying this meme:
On the way from Newark airport to New York to spend a few days with some of my besties. Here are some pics I took along the way.
I've never felt so seen by a pair of socks before.
I'm curious: if you're aware of any beverage/beverage syrup out there that start with "Dr" that /doesn't/ bear any resemblance to Dr. Pepper, can you please let me know? I'm trying to figure out if a beverage having a doctorate universally acts as an indication of that type of soda or not.
I adore Dr. Pepper as a drink and I also love trademarks, so I have a growing collection of photos of "sodas with a doctorate." Please witness some of my treasures. (Plz share more too if you have anyyyy)
It's a little insane how many fireworks are going off around our neighborhood in unincorporated Vancouver. People are going NUTS with the explody things. It's been basically constant firework noise for several hours now. John is joining in with our neighbor and his oldest kid.
Excited for this trademark talk today by Dustin Marlan as part of the Chicago-Kent IP Summer Camp series! I've seen him present an earlier version of this work at WIPIP in February and am excited to see how it's changed since then.
Apparently, tech accessory company dbrand spent over 7 months developing a product around someone else's intellectual property and even took pre-orders for that product, without ever bothering to ask the IP owner for permission!
I constantly take pictures of or screenshot various trademarks or collaborations but then generally forget to share them anywhere. I'm going to try to share these more often just so others can see my shiny trademark collection (yes, am probably a magpie tbh). Enjoy.
Me, every time I tell another friend I got diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder recently and they say "yeah, totally thought that had already been established":
Does including one photo of a cat toy I took at Petsmart in 2023 as an illustrative example in my current trademark law article justify the thousands of trademark parody pet toy pictures I've taken over the years? What do we think?
I'm curious and taking a quick poll here. If you just saw the below product for sale online OR in the wild (like your friend was using it to cut carrots or something), would you assume it was something made by or associated with MTA (e.g., sponsored or licensed)? If so - why would you think that?
I love the chicken of the month feature in the tiny newsletter that comes with our eggs. <3
Legit cheered at the Elizabeth I battle of Tilbury speech reference in House of the Dragon season 3 episode 1. It of course also made me think of my favorite comic riffing on the quote (from Hark! a Vagrant by Kate Beaton):
Random thoughts I have while procrastinating working on my current article:
Now we just need a backdoor trademark, backdoor trade secret, and a backdoor patent paper and we can start a backdoor ip bowling team! (I'm quite pleased with my panel for IP scholars conference in August!)
I commissioned a picture of my dear departed Schrodinger with Death of Discworld. My beloved Schrody died back in 2022 and I still miss him. He was my first cat and was a wonderfully sweet, loving, funny boy. In Discworld, Death is really quite kind and has bent the rules many times to help others.
....come again? I really want to hear the argument that the Patagonia mark is "fanciful."
I was looking through the Paris Salon Catalog of 1882 (as one does), and I came across this amazing pairing of paintings. I think this deserves to be a new meme format.
But it still feels like I'm repeatedly beating my head against a wall and basically tying myself to my computer every. single. day. in order to accomplish anything. Long term projects and ADHD are just. So fun, y'all!
I owe an article first draft for a conference on Tuesday. This is something I specifically committed to because I knew the external deadline would make me write it and turn it in. I have been actively working on it for weeks. I am excited about the topic and like a lot of what I've written so far.
I got new glasses! They're pretty different from the style I've worn the last few years. Husband John is not a fan and asked if I could switch to contacts again, but I got MULTIPLE compliments on them last night at an event so like, he can suck it.
