My 4.5 star review for The Butcher’s Masquerade:

Who is the villain, and who is the victim? The lines continue to blur with every book.
This series moves at a relentless pace, barely giving you a chance to catch your breath before throwing you into the next twist. I think it's intentional, the books pile on trauma in a way that neither the characters or the reader can fully process in the moment.
The final third of The Butcher's Masquerade was absolutely intense. Watching everything come together, only to fall apart again and again, made for an emotional and unforgettable ending.

My 4.5 star review of The Gate of the Feral Gods: This might be my favorite one so far. Every setting, every situation, every character is unique. I love the constant reminder of how big every action is, even on the small characters,
It’s something we just often ignore in sci-fi/fantasy (but also in the real world) every action sequence is packed with emotion & consequences. How can a book series be light hearted & heavy all at once? But this manages

My 4.25 star review of the Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook: What if Ticket to Ride tried to kill you?

I want to call these books fun because they’re are. Things are blowing up, fart jokes, references to Wonderwall by Oasis. But then you have gut punches of the trauma happening to the NPCs, further backstories of the characters and these wonderful glimpses of humanity.

June reading wrap up! I did adjust my star ratings on a few books. Like Blood over Bright Haven is better written than DCC but I enjoyed it a bit more. But The Everlasting is still my fav book of the year

My 3.75 star review for Carl’s Doomsday Scenario “The book was slower, plot wise than the first but it’s easy to see its laying a lot of groundwork for what’s to come. The introduction of quests to the level sort of distracts you from realizing not much is happened. It managed to bring in some heartbreaking moments peppered in to these action-packed battle scenes. Hoping to see some characters re-appear in the next book. “

Book 30!

My 4.5 star review for Blood Over Bright Haven: Dark & bleak & sad but beautifully written. This is a fantasy that reflects the selfishness, racism, classism & sexism of the world we live in. I loved the unique magic system & how real the characters were. The oppressed stayed angry. The main character, when faced with the reality of her world still have trouble letting go of her old ideals & beliefs. Who’s that might be frustrating to some people, it’s how many people are when the veil is lifted from their eyes.

My four star review of dungeon crawler Carl: Running Man meets Hitchikers Guide. It’s action packed so even when you’re getting exposition dumped by the guide characters it doesn’t slow the pace down. It highlights the best & worst of our society while constantly making foot fetish jokes

My 4.5 star review of What Stalks the Deep. An eldritch horror to round out the series was a perfect choice. Easton being summoned to the horror may have made the story a bit less scary if it wasn't for Kingfisher's terrifying descriptions of the monster.

Book 27!

My 4 star review of What Feasts at Night: "Blessed Virgin," I whispered, even though I couldn't even hear myself. "Why must you keep sending me innocent monsters?"

I love Kingfisher’s writing. Her humor overpowered the horror elements in this book more than in book one, so I wasn’t as pulled in at first until the nightmare really kicked off. This book also brought in the very real horrors of PTSD and the dangers of being a woman.

4 Star review for Posthumous Education: The setting of this one, while interesting is not my favorite. You finally feel like the threat is real (but in the second to last book) THAT BEING SAID. I love the adventures of Fred & Clan Fred. I still thoroughly enjoyed the book & am excited to see how it all wraps up

Me 4.75 star review of Rites of the Starling:
Where most series falter in the second book this one soared. The work building continued and built more on the existing knowledge. The characters got more depth. A new love story was introduced was beautiful & tragic. I cannot wait for book 3
