I photographed the Butterfly nebula (IC 1318) over the past 3 nights from my backyard! I had a lot of fun with this one, both in capturing and processing. Nerd details in the alt text. #astrophotography #photography #astronomy #space
I know front runners got nerfed last patch but I still think she’s going to be busted for the Leo cup. #umamusume
New night, clear skies, new project. If you can guess what this target is from this frame I’ll be impressed (no peeking at the alt text) #astrophotography
I photographed M5 last month from my driveway. In the uncropped version, you can see an object in the the bottom left that did not follow tracking. I'm not sure what it was, but most likely an asteroid of some kind. If anyone knows feel free to chime in. #astronomy #astrophotography #photography
Markarian's chain of galaxies, as shot from my backyard. This group of galaxies can be easily seen with a telescope just above the constellation Virgo. #photography #astrophotography #astronomy #space
Photographed the Wasp star cluster last night (NGC 6633). The cluster is about the same size as the moon in the night sky, and can been seen early in the morning this time of year. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography #space
Turns out I can get a decent few of the southern side of the sky, but not for long with all the trees around. I split my project time as a result. I hope to have one finished over the next couple days.
Bode's galaxy and the Cigar galaxy. I spent three nights photographing this pair of galaxies from my driveway using a monochrome camera and filters. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography #space
At it again. Probably won’t be finished for a couple more nights, but have a WIP of the Christmas Tree nebula
I photographed the Rosette nebula over the past 3 nights. It was a bit chilly but I'm glad to be back at it, and also glad I got to shoot this before it got too low on the horizon. See alt text for nerd details. #astrophotography #photography #astronomy #space
A quick post to let you know I’m not dead. A new project is underway now that it’s not -10 out. If the weather holds I’ll have it finished in a few days. #astrophotography #photography
Jupiter is in opposition right now! If it’s clear where you’re at, check it with a telescope, binoculars, or even your naked eye! It should be easy to pick out and much brighter than the stars around it.
Merry Christmas everyone. May your holiday be as bright as the Orion nebula! #photography #astrophotography #astronomy #space It was very foggy while shooting this, but I take the clear nights when I can in the winter.
I photographed the Horsehead nebula, one of my favorite deep sky objects. I spent two nights photographing this nebula, separated by a month in-between due to cloud cover and snow. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography #space
Definitely tricky, but here's a version of it. The green from all the hydrogen keeps trying to creep in.
I've come a long way from when I tried to photograph it last year. Better equipment does help, but technique and processing do even more.
The California Nebula, named after the state its shape mimics. It took two nights to photograph this nebula using narrowband filters. #astrophotography #photography #astronomy
I photographed the Pleiades star cluster last night. I was able to get much more of the dust surrounding the stars this year. This cluster is easily visible to the naked eye even in light-polluted areas, and looks fantastic through a pair of binoculars. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography
I visited the southern hemisphere for the first time last week. Unfortunately, the moon was full and clouds kept rolling in, so I didn't have near the time I'd normally spend, but I did get to photograph the Large Magellanic Cloud! #astrophotography #space #astronomy #photography
I spent six hours photographing the Triangulum Galaxy from a local parking lot. I wish light pollution wasn't so terrible here. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography #space
