I photographed the Butterfly nebula (IC 1318) over the past 3 nights from my backyard! I had a lot of fun with this one, both in capturing and processing. Nerd details in the alt text. #astrophotography #photography #astronomy #space

The butterfly nebula, shot with a Ultracat 108 telescope on a 2600 MM camera, using SHO astronomik filters. 5 minutes exposures were used for each channel, using 15 hours of data over 3 nights. Data was stacked in Astro pixel processor and processed in Pixinsight

I photographed M5 last month from my driveway. In the uncropped version, you can see an object in the the bottom left that did not follow tracking. I'm not sure what it was, but most likely an asteroid of some kind. If anyone knows feel free to chime in. #astronomy #astrophotography #photography

Messier 5, photographed with a 2600 mm pro and a ultracat 108 telescope, using stacked 60 second exposures.

The bottom left quadrant a streak of light followed by a pattern of r, g, b suggest a moving object that is not a star, such as a planet or asteroid that was captured in filter order.

Turns out I can get a decent few of the southern side of the sky, but not for long with all the trees around. I split my project time as a result. I hope to have one finished over the next couple days.

$The Rosette nebula in a the narrowband SHO palette. The edges of the nebula are made of red to yellow bands of cloudy duet, with a hollow blue core. A bundle of bright stars is nestled in the center. The image was shot with an asi2600 MM pro using astronomik filters through a 500 mm refractor telescope. Each exposure was 300s and tracked, with approximately 12 hours of combined data.$

Jupiter is in opposition right now! If it’s clear where you’re at, check it with a telescope, binoculars, or even your naked eye! It should be easy to pick out and much brighter than the stars around it.

I've come a long way from when I tried to photograph it last year. Better equipment does help, but technique and processing do even more.

The California nebula is visible in a red cloudy haze centrally. A small blanket of stars surrounds the area. Vignetting is present at the edges of the image.

I photographed the Pleiades star cluster last night. I was able to get much more of the dust surrounding the stars this year. This cluster is easily visible to the naked eye even in light-polluted areas, and looks fantastic through a pair of binoculars. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography

I visited the southern hemisphere for the first time last week. Unfortunately, the moon was full and clouds kept rolling in, so I didn't have near the time I'd normally spend, but I did get to photograph the Large Magellanic Cloud! #astrophotography #space #astronomy #photography
