Went on a bat walk last night. Saw a few bats (one really good close fly-by) and heard a more, but it was relatively quiet before the park kicked us out. The host was disappointed in the small amount of bats, but it was still cool. She lent me her bat detector to try myself for a bit. 💜BATS!
Woke up to the noises of the Cooper🪶 here being mobbed right outside my window. I briefly felt bad for her, thinking about how much it would suck to be attacked and yelled at everywhere you went because no one liked you.... but then I remembered she could just eat her bullies.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #OverTheRainbow of a bird looking skyward, so I had to share my fav pic of this goofy lady who refuses to be normal. She is a Red-Tailed Hawk🪶 who lives in captivity as an educational ambassador after an injury left her nonreleaseable / unable to survive in the wild.
Here is a juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk, common colour morph. Pretty light chest, and you can see basically a "belt" of dark pattern across the belly. This looks very similar to your Tua friend to me. Will dig for some close up of Red Shoulers adult vs juv. These are also smaller hawks than Red Tails
I impulse bought a centrifuge which I will now donate to the treatment room at Raptor Place™
This is what we currently use. It takes FOREVER and we've had several fiascos that would, uh, excite a vampire.
Their fav toy continues to be LITERAL TRASH. I set out a box filled with bits of cardboard packing materials for Storm and Sammy to play with before it went into the recycle bin, and they spent all morning making crazy noises while playing, chewing, and scattering bits of it all over the house.
The news is dumb, so please enjoy my local Cooper🪶 having a nice cool bath on a hot day. Notice one of her deck feathers is coming in!
Live oaks are so pretty and I'm so lucky to live within driving distances of places like this.
I don't care how much you like Call of Duty, this being the very first game showcased on the "Story-Rich" page is some kind of video game marketing crime.
Went to the San Diego zoo today with a friend. They had two harpy eagles, two Crowned Eagles, and THREE Stellar's Sea Eagles -- one of which was a branching baby! They were the highlight but I forgot to take any pictures. The eagle docent was a falconer and happy to talk birds of prey with us.
None of this shocks me anymore because this is run by a bunch of amoral clowns, but I'm still capable of rage over this framing.
I love Slay the Spire 2, but it's very apparent which hero is my least favourite.
I have an endless amount of photos of this tuxedo dork in all kinds of stupid poses. His name is Stormageddon.
No where near as good as the person I'm quoting or any of the other people sharing their art, but I'm not an artist and I'm still learning! Gonna work on a roadrunner next I think.
