Umpires missed 3,621 calls in July and had 881 calls overturned. There were the 10 worst called strikeouts.
Umpire Jeremie Rehak made the worst call of the day -- a strike to Xander Bogaerts that missed low by 4.11 inches. Bogaerts immediately tapped his helmet, but Rehak refused to grant the challenge. The next pitch, Rehak ejected Padres manager Craig Stammen and infield coach Ryan Goins.
Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt saved his two worst calls for the bottom of the 9th. He called a strike in a 3-0 count on a pitch that missed low by 3.28 inches. Then, with the tying run in scoring position, Wendelstedt ended the game on a called strike that missed inside by 1.93 inches.
Umpire Quinn Wolcott called a batter timer violation on Jose Caballero for not looking up at the pitcher with 8 seconds remaining. However, replays showed that Cabellero had his head up with 9 seconds remaining. Wolcott ejected Yankees hitting coach James Rowson for arguing the incorrect call.
The Yankees had a 1-0 lead in the 7th when umpire Junior Valentine gifted Max Muncy a second life. A few pitches later, Muncy hit a 2 run HR. The Dodgers won 2-1.

Umpire Malachi Moore gifted Matt Shaw a second life on what should've been a called strike 3. The Blue Jays failed to challenge and, a couple pitches later, Shaw homered to give the Cubs a 3 run lead. Moore was the lowest rated umpire of the day and missed 24 calls.
Umpire Emil Jimenez called a strike on a pitch that missed high by 6.07 inches. This was the largest miss this season for a non position player pitch. The Yankees still had both challenges left, but when Jasson Domínguez tried to challenge, Jimenez inexplicably denied the request.
Umpire Jen Pawol gifted Zach Neto a second life on what should've been strike 3. The next pitch, Neto hit a home run.

Umpires blew a foul ball call and gifted the Rockies a double play. Moisés Ballesteros fouled a ball off his leg and didn't run to first since he assumed the play was dead. The play was not reviewable and rookie umpire Louie Krupa ejected Cubs manager Craig Counsell when he argued.

Umpire Alan Porter initially failed to recognize a Pirates challenge request. When Bill Murphy, complained, Porter pointed at Murphy, shouted, "get the fuck out of here", and ejected him. The next pitch, manager Don Kelly complained about a check swing call and Porter ejected him, too.
Umpire Chris Segal missed a SEASON HIGH 27 calls in a game and 18 went against the White Sox. The White Sox still managed to win 9-8 in 10 innings.
With two on and two outs, umpire Chris Conroy called Jacob Young out on strikes. Young challenged and the call was overturned. The next pitch, Young hit a 3 run home run.
