Films Forgotten/Overlooked... THE DEVILS (1971) Warner Bros buried this so thoroughly that the deleted 'Rape of Christ' scene remained missing for decades. Ken Russell built 17th-century Loudun as stark white tile, made Oliver Reed a martyr, & the studio only recently authorized a full restoration.
Films Forgotten/Overlooked... BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW (2010) Panos Cosmatos built this around a memory he wasn't sure was real: a half-glimpsed VHS from childhood he couldn't place. The result isn't homage to '80s sci-fi horror. It's a fabricated artifact from a timeline that never happened. #film

LOST HIGHWAY was my first foray into David Lynch. His work and his personal ethos were startling and unique, top to bottom. An artist’s artist for the ages.

One of my favorite movies about “the movies” is Vicente Minelli’s The Bad and The Beautiful. Lana Turner burned BRIGHT. Kirk Douglas, as Jonahthan Shields, was diabolical, devastating, and charming.
It was such an insane blur, but… sometimes I forget I wrote on #StarTrek with an insanely wonderful group of writers.
