So here's an interesting Villainess anime airing this season. "Though I am an Inept Villainess." Story about the "butterfly" Reirin swapping bodies with the "rat" Keigetsu...and despite not being able to speak about the body swap, Reirin continues to be herself. I like it so far.
I gotta tell you: it really warms my heart to see Tenchi Muyo being talked about this much in 2026. That Tenchi Galaxy Kickstarter has really re-ignited interest in a show that gained a bunch of fans during those OG Toonami days and hopefully will gain more.
One of the first anime movies I ever bought. Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love. I LOVE this movie even now. I might rewatch it.
Since we're on the topic of Tenchi possibly getting another anime, you wanna know what doesn't get talked about enough? The English dubbed songs. I still listen to Talent for Love, Dimension of Love, Washu's Lullaby, etc. It would be dope if we got a couple for Tenchi Galaxy
Honorable Mentions: Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Dorohedoro Season 2 Girls Can't Be Kind to Otaku? Agents of the Four Seasons Mission: Yozakura Family Season 2 Snowball Earth Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Last Boss Queen Season 2 MAO Kill Blue
My Top 10 Spring 2026 Anime 1. Re: Zero S4 2. Wistoria S2 3. Witch Hat Atelier 4. Nippon Sangoku 5. Classroom of the Elite S4 6. Marriagetoxin 7. Daemons of the Shadow Realm 8. Second Prettiest Girl 9. Dr. Stone Science Future Cour 3 10. Akane-banashi
Saw the first episode of The Ghost in the Shell on Prime..and Lawd Have Mercy. Motoko Kusanagi looks absolutely beautiful. Gotta love that 80's cyberpunk style.
Banana Fish is a dark, gritty crime thriller with contents of drugs, gangs, corruption, PTSD, sexual assault and things of that nature. Essentially, this is a show that's not for the weak. It's on Prime until July 5th. If you can handle all those, you're good. Great show. 9/10
So I found out that the anime Banana Fish is leaving Prime Video on July 5th...so this is the perfect time to finally watch this show. Subbed of course. Amazon still gotta hold this L for never actually dubbing this show. Hopefully, CR will pick it up and dub it.
So I finished watching Kuranika (that's the short name for it) and I LOVED the progression in this anime. The "lonely introvert meets popular girl" trope has been done A LOT, but good writing and good character depth and development makes it stand out and Kuranika nails it. 8/10
When I finished binge watching Season 1 of Wistoria, I stated that it's one of the best fantasy anime I've seen in recent years. I was hoping I wasn't being a prisoner of recency bias when I said it. After seeing Season 2, safe to say I wasn't. Wistoria Season 2 COOKED! 9/10
The Summer anime season is almost here, so that means it's almost time for me to do my Top 10 Anime of Spring 2026. Spring caps off a strong first half of 2026. I'll probably have that Top 10 list up after July 4th weekend as I finish up these shows. Hope y'all enjoy it. ✌🏾
Dr. STONE wraps up after 7 years and what a great 7 years it has been. From revitalizing people who have turned to stone to reinventing technology to making a spaceship, Dr. STONE has been fascinating from a science standpoint. Amazing worldbuilding. Thank you, Senku. 8/10
This cast for the new Ghost in the Shell though...Suzie Yeung as Kusanagi is interesting but she'll slay. ProZD and Bill Butts as Aramaki and Batou are perfect. They cast Leon Kennedy himself as Togusa 🔥🔥. S/o to Tony Weaver Jr getting another role under his belt. I can't wait for this dub!
Since it's Father's Day, here's a modern anime original to watch. Buddy Daddies is an anime about two assassin roommates who unexpectedly end up taking care of a little girl. It's pretty good.
Akane-banashi knocked it out of the park this season. The story of a high school senior looking to avenge her father by becoming a shinuchi in rakugo is very compelling. This anime is for those who have a love and appreciation for performing arts and comedic storytelling. 8/10
I just completed all of Record of Lodoss War and yeah, I'm gonna put this as part of my recommendations. If you love fantasy, watch the Record of Lodoss War OVA and Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. Vintage anime worth watching.
Starting next week, Shangri-La Frontier. Both seasons. First time watching.
So thanks to the mini-episodes, Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You already has 5/5 star rating on CR before the show actually airs next month, which gives the impression that more anime fans are interested in more adult centered romance anime. I've said it before: Seinen anime is where it's at
I finished watching the Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You mini-episodes on Crunchyroll. It's safe to say that Yamada/Tayama is an early contender for Best Girl of the Season. The 5.0 stars on Crunchyroll is well deserved. Looking forward to this next month.
An anime like Planetes is exactly why anime recommendations are important and it really depends on what THEY like. That being said, if you like sci-fi space drama with a little romance sprinkled in, Planetes is the anime for you...and it definitely is for me. One of the best sci-fi anime ever 9/10
I would recommend an anime like Genshiken to people. It's an anime that revolves around anime fans and otaku culture, it's a seinen anime with young adults in college and every main character (except Saki) is an otaku and different in their own way.
What an elf and a dark elf looked like in 1990. Deedlit and Pirotess look absolutely beautiful. #RecordofLodossWar
Starting tomorrow, I'm watching an anime that's considered a classic and considered to be the gold standard when it comes to fantasy anime, Record of Lodoss War. First time watching this. I think I'm-a like this one.
I finished watching Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. This is an amazing movie. What started out as a guy trying to make money to study abroad ends up as a budding romance with a girl in a wheelchair and how they both overcome barriers, not just between them, but in life as well. 9/10
