Threatening to blow up Oman and saying Saudi Arabia and Qatar owe it to the U.S. to join Abraham Accords—for ending a war that he started and failed to defend them against, and may not sign an agreement with Iran unless they join—indicate he feels he is for losing control with Iran.
First he declared he wanted to eradicate Iran’s civilization now he is declaring that he wants to turn Iran into an American property. It is this kind of grotesque behavior that undermines diplomacy and unites Iranians in defense of their country. He casts doubts on America’s true intentions.
I enjoyed reading Lyse Doucet’s new book. It is engaging and thoughtful and tells Afghanistan’s harrowing recent history with empathy and through the eyes of its people. Highly recommend it.
