I was wondering why the US gets all our (Canada's) leftover weather. Here is a look at the prevailing wind patterns around the globe.

The globe has 6 distinct wind patterns.
From the Arctic Circle to 60 degrees North the wind travels south.
From 60 degree North to 30 degrees North the wind travels in an East pattern called the Westerlies.
From 30 degrees North (also called the Horse Latitudes) to the Equator the wind travels south, the wind is called the Northeast trades.
The wind around the Equator is called the Doldrums.
The wind between the Equator and 30 degrees South (also called the Horse Latitudes) the wind travels north towards the Equator, the winds are called the Southeast Trades.
The wind between 30 degrees South to The Antarctic Circle at 60 degrees South travels from West to East and is called the Westerlies.
There are no winds that travel from the north from the Antarctic.

The official Canada-Michigan agreement says tolls collected on the Canadian side are to reimburse Canada for the funds it advanced, and Open Canada records say the Government of Canada is funding the entire project.
Reuters has also reported the bridge was built with Canadian funding after the U.S. declined to finance it, with costs expected to be recovered through tolls.
So when American officials call that a myth, Canadians can fairly ask what part of “Canada paid first” needs translation.

The map of Russian expansion has different colours for different centuries; going as far back as 1400, then 1500, 1560, 1600, 1630, 1660, 1700, 1800, 1850 and finally 1900.

For those who believe russia’s vast size is somehow natural — just look at this map.
It screams continual colonization and the destruction of entire ethnic groups. Today, over 65 languages in russia are endangered, and hundreds more have already disappeared. And the process was even more brutal than in the Americas, where over 90% of Indigenous people were wiped out by Eurasian diseases. In russia’s case, the Moskovians had to kill manually — with steel — because unlike in the Americas, the local populations had immunity to those diseases.
Most of Ukraine fell under their occupation only in the 1800s. Before 1600, they controlled only a small part of it. So if someone tells you that “Ukraine is historically russian,” show them this map. It’s not. Just like Finland, Poland, and many other countries — Ukraine was never inherently russian. It was simply conquered, like the rest.
This empire stops expanding only when it’s stopped by force. Not by negotiations, kind words, or “understanding” the Kremlin’s grievances. They wage war simply because they can — not because they were “provoked” by NATO, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, or whatever monster they imagine under their beds. That’s been their nature for over six centuries. And they won’t change.

Michael Masson, a 27-year-old construction worker from Saskatchewan, was last seen at the Hat Motel in Medicine Hat, Alberta on June 5, 1989. His remains were found in a shallow grave about 10 kilometres outside the city on July 31, 1989. It’s a cold case that bothers Mathew Torgerson, who has tried to find out more information from Medicine Hat Police but has never had a reply. RCMP did not disclose cause of death, but one of the very few articles that mentions his murder, suggested that he’d been shot. “Nothing about calibre, nothing about him knowing people in the area, his case is never mentioned again after 1990. A man whose murdered body was found last week when two
boys discovered his shallow grave near Medicine Hat has been
identified as Michael Marvin Masson, 27.

But RCMP are refusing to disclose how Masson was killed.

Masson, who lived at no fixed address in
Medicine Hat, worked for several firms as a
laborer in that city and around southern Alberta
as well as as in his native Saskatchewan. He
was unemployed at the time of his death.
His remains were found July 31 in a shallow
grave some 10 kilometres outside city limits.

An autopsy was conducted last week, but police said the
cause of death is being withheld while the investigation
continues. Police have confirmed he was murdered.
