In 2021, Puerto Rico's Camp Santiago was the testing site for the US army's now-mothballed Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS). A report I obtained that summarizes the tests show how much of a spectacular failure the goggles were. heavyweather.media/the-army-tes...

Puerto Rican protests are really more of a festival march than anything else. The protest “strategy” is pretty much packing yourself into a tiny intersection, then chanting for 30 minutes to 2 hours, and relying on the cops not to kettle you, which they don’t really do here compared to the US
Protesters have reached La Fortaleza, or at least as close as they can get because of the barriers that the cops have put up so people can’t get within a 100 feet of the structure
“No to Esencia. Yes to the beaches,” the crowd chants as they snake their way into Old San Juan proper.
When you and bro are tasked with monitoring the situation, and the situation is a 1.5k+ protest against an ecocidal luxury resort project
Crowd is fairly large here, about 1.5k I would guess. There’s a mix of mostly anti-Esencia signs, PR flags, as well as anti-JGo admin, Independence Party and Citizens Victory Movement posters.
“Esencia isn’t going to happen. It’s not going to happen,” the crowd chants while occupying the front steps and plaza of the Puerto Rico Capitol building.
The march has moved to the entrance of Escambron Beach with chants of “Esencia is violence” and “Esencia isn’t going to happen.”
I am in Old San Juan reporting on a fairly large (~1k) protest against a luxury hotel development in Cabo Rojo. There’ve been many protests on that side of the archipelago, but this is the first of 2026 in the metro that’s this big.

Although it's unclear if the database they use during immigration enforcement is the same one as they do for other law enforcement purposes, it's clear they have access to Puerto Rican driver and vehicle registration data because of the search that came back to the U.S. citizen they did not detain.
