It's non-binary awareness day or something today. I have a lot of Thoughts™️ about that which are hard to put into words Nevertheless, here I am. It is a boringly concrete fact about me, as well as a breath of air so clear and light it feels like my chest has opened wide to take it in.

When i was a kid, my mum listened to a lot of sophisti-pop and new wave. My dad was a huge Beatles nerd, so that was always in the background. They were both into the late 80s folk revival too, so lots of that.
Name a TV show you’re positive no one else remembers but you. Impeccable, often really weird show, very stylised & slightly overwritten in a good way. BBC said ACAB.
The cyberpunk look of the Mutants and their stupid way of talking in The Dark Knight Rises is delightfully stupid.
Henry Melling makes an amazing young EA Poe in The Pale Blue Eye. Would like him in a better film please!
The dream sequences, and the reality they imply, in 2020s Come True are genuinely eerie and existentially unnerving.
The contrast between the two Nebulas in Endgame I found really effective - an illustration of emotional growth and learning that you don't have to wear your pain forever.
Lance Henriksen is really having an awesome time chewing the scenery in Stuart Gordon's The Pit and the Pendulum
The central concept of Dr Who is really charming and better episodes wrie around the low budget and focus on characterisation to thier advantage.
The production design for netflix's Series of Unfortunate events was really idiosyncratic and evocative, with lots of attention to detail.
Treasure contains some of Robin Guthrie's tightest guitar drones and distortion, very anxiety inducing.
Lamentations of the Flame Princess inspired some of my favourite OSR modules, like Veins of the Earth and Scenic Innsmouth.
Love the uncanny design of the regular titans from Attack on Titan, truly nightmarish creatures.
Really love the family meal scene & its extreme conclusion in Martyrs (2008). A very astute and cutting depiction of a middle class family, followed by something blunt and horrible.
I loved the setting and gothic trappings of the huge maze-palace & necromantic magic-science of Gideon the Ninth.
Chiwetel Ejiofor's 'The Operative' is a really interesting villain in Serenity. A dispicable murdering war criminal who hopes to create a utopia for which he is unfit. Nice idea, good performance.
Come True (2020) because its final 20 seconds manage to completely butcher the rest of the film, which i found stylish and unsettling.
