'Nude Descending A Staircase'. Saw it in one of those hated film strips in high school and it absolutey grabbed me. Love the 'moving in sequence' thing.
House sparrows are non-migratory & aren't a protected species, ok to keep in the US as pets. But I told the kid it's best if you do the 'raise & release' thing, tho. 🪶 But Bob, my pet female HOSP from years ago was a total kick, one of the best pets EVER.*
So the kid and I put a plastic tub, deeply padded with several towels, right under the nest. Lo & behold, today a chick fell from the nest TWICE, and a third time was halfway out when the kid gently pushed it back in. These pics were taken after the second Kowabunga leap. No feathers, eyes closed.
Welp, it's 'Raining Baby Sparrows' season! Our resident grumpy sparrow, Mr. Chirpy, is still nesting in the decorative birdhouse I put up on the front porch, lives there year-round. His latest batch has seen 1 chick and two eggs fall from the nest in the last 10 days or so, found too late to save.

CEREAL BOX RECORDS, BABY! Yes, they were crap and everyone knew it--mostly the cardboard was too warped to play, quality was non-existant, and they wore out immediately. But you were still jealous of kids who's parents bought the cereal.
Most recent library haul! Two by @tkingfisher.com, one by @gabino.bsky.social, and the last by Blake Crouch. All books I've been wanting to read for a while, I got lucky and they were in the stacks! Started with 'The Twisted Ones' & can't put it down. 😀📚
Post the best picture you have ever taken of your pets. My favorite pic of my horse & I when I was in high school. She was just so chill, I could've sat there with my feet up like that for hours if I wanted. She was 1/2 Arabian, so also wicked clever and an uppity little snot. Loved her! 😁

And yes, the 'set them out on the porch' thing was the dumbest shit I ever heard. So from now on, not willing to risk anyone's health with unrefrigerated eggs, I'll go to the food closet 'porch' & offer people eggs. My chicken run was made from an old carport frame in 2006. It's done so great that it made the move north with us in 2012, and is still going strong! Even the heavy security screen doors were curbshopped. Maybe someone can repurpose it...?
