🪶a Torres Strait Pigeon who is visiting this same pole every morning at present and a Kookaburra sitting on the same branch in a nearby park every time we visit.
🪶 @birds a Torresian Pigeon on power lines about 40 metres across the road from my back deck this afternoon and a remarkably clean looking Ibis chasing grubs in my front yard yesterday. Seems they enjoy our humid weather.
Copied this from realstewyjay on @ for all those who live in affected states.
I chanced upon a pretty big flock of their relatives while walking my dogs yesterday.
🪶 A pair of Jabirus in the 1st photo & close up of 1 in 2nd photo frequenting this drain just above a tidal barrier. Probably feeding on the feral introduced Tilapia that now dominate many catchments in this region at the expense of native species.
🪶A male yellow-breastfed Sunbird enjoying a meal from a flowering bottlebrush in my yard.
Full moon early last night at ~1830 and then during the eclipse but with light cloud cover at 0430 this morning
🪶 A few bird photos from the last week. The 1st one is a little honeyeater that was too fast for a still as he flew away from his bath.
🪶Chanced on this while walking my dogs earlier this week. We seem to get a few in the city area during our dry season. Locals call them Jabirus or long-necked storks.
🪶We have a pair of Bowerbirds frolicking around our front yard, no doubt assessing if it's suitable for a nest.
Morning Dave. A photo I took earlier this week at one of our artificial lakes turned into a gross pollution transfer station by lack of maintenance.
And to you, Dave. I'm enjoying my regular morning hug while I drink my coffee & surf SM for overnight news.
🪶 Spangled Drongo enjoying my Sysigium skies apple this morning just to the right of the Grevillea flowers.
A little kingfisher outside my kitchen window yesterday afternoon. He was checking out the birdbath.
Some lazer guided rain coming in over Townsville at present, heading due south-west.
Townsville Queensland weather at my place on the back of Castle Hill - Friday 266mm rain, yesterday 262mm and so far today over 60mm, all with strong winds. It's given me something to do but fortunately no damage to anything other than the tree.
Well we've gone past 250mm of rain today at my place on the south side of Castle Hill in Townsville. Raining lightly at present & there was 2 hrs 40 minutes to go when I took the screen shot.
A quick follow up with a rain graph as promised a short while ago. Over so far 130mm today, most of it since 10AM so less than 4 hours. It's getting darker with heavier rain just now.
Townsville is slightly below the middle of the upper right square in the image. We have had ~25mm/hr (1") for the last 2 hours. I will post a graph a little later.
