My 10-day vacation started last night, and apparently my body was ready for vacation mode.
My first ever Lemon Cucumber from the garden is ready!
I was in a mood to cook this evening, so now I have baked chicken with tortellini, and strawberry chocolate chip mazurkas. I also have some chicken in the crock pot to use later in the week.
Well, I got 4 tiny potatoes from the garden. It’s not nothing though.
I’m not entirely certain how I lost 4 pounds in the past 5 days, but my goal has been to be under 220 by my camping trip* on Friday, so I’ll take the easy win. *6 gays in an RV for what’s looking like 2 days of rain… we’ll see how this goes.
Made kimbap for the first time. Despite being a bit messy, it turned out quite good.

Have you ever wanted cheese and crackers, realized you’re out of crackers, and think “making saltines probably isn’t that hard,” make said crackers, and then feel like Big Saltine is lying to you because these were stupid-easy and took like 20 minutes? I’ll let you guess my answer.
One of the fun things about having a garden is “I need to trim that dill” turns into a Flounder Pita with Red Cabbage and Cucumbers in Creamy Yogurt and Dill Sauce, and Curried Roasted Potatoes for dinner.
Went with a couple of friends to see a local, interactive production of “Masque of The Red Death.” I know they’ve already sold out 6 shows, but if you can get tickets, it really is a great experience. This was Timeslip’s first show in their new space, so I’m excited to see where they go from here.
Pizzaville on Westport is definitely one of Louisville’s hidden gems. Their pizza is great, but their Pizzaville Slugger breadsticks are amazing. (Lexington folks, think peak Pazzo’s but softer in a good way.)
Pretty pumped to finally get to see a production of “Octet.”
Finally got around to hooking my old turntable into my Sonos system. Now I can pipe music from records through the whole house. So, we’re obviously starting with Miles Davis’s “Sketches of Spain.”
After it was stolen MANY years ago (possibly before I was born), my mom ran into someone at a funeral last week who knew a collector that had the custom sign that used to be on my grandfather’s grocery store. Mom picked it up today!
Came across a “British people can’t fathom how big the US is” video and decided to do a little comparison. Driving from London to Edinburgh is about like driving from Louisville to Atlanta. I don’t know that I realized how small Britain is.
After working from home for 6+ years, it’s weird being back in an office. 2 years ago I would have hated the idea, but it does feel good to be around people again. Granted, it helps to have a view like this (without my reflection I couldn’t avoid due to the window wrapping).

Not bad for a $25 Aldi Find… I think the rug makes it start to feel like an outdoor living space.
I may be becoming a “warm scone and French press in the garden” person.
This may be an actual drink, but I winged this and am calling it the Dark Chocolate Cherry Manhattan (for a 2X): 4 oz Maker’s 46 Bourbon 1.5 oz Amaro Meletti .5 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liquor 4 dashes Chocolate Bitters It’s like a dessert drink for adults… bitter, boozy, with just enough sweetness.

Work has been kinda slow today, so I’ve been using Claude and Gemini to create a garden planner website for myself that looks like an 1890s seed catalog. My patio garden has really spiraled quickly this week.
