Rover 75 CDTI aux belt is a notorious job. Luckily because I had the front end off and the ability to unbolt the engine mounts, it was a bit easier as I could lower the engine down. Not enough space for my long reach 24mm spanner otherwise! Clearance between the inner wing is genuinely mad…
The analogue TV works! Managed to get a fairly decent picture using my usb RF converter box and a simple wire antenna! #weirdcarbs #retrotech
Rover 75 today. A common sight for any 75 veterans. Cleaning those plenums! I even managed to do the difficult one under the servo. I need to do the “spy hole” mod to the plastics at some point. Especially because they aren’t always forgiving in all weathers! #weirdcarbs #rover75
A wild, high spec Rover 75 CDTI auto appears on the fleet! Oops! It has an analogue TV built in!! #weirdcarbs #rover75
Hey friends, it's been a moment as I navigate the old noggin. But getting there, and getting back into a hobby I've missed for a decade. Old video cameras! Yes, some of my future YT videos will be shot on these too! (P.S thank you for the q&a, I am still working on that video and many others!)
Someone mentioned Toyota Corolla, and they may be right as I found a picture from a listing of a 1996 EE100 in Sri Lanka with wheels that look identical.
My YT channel www.youtube.com/@VHSChloe has been very dead for a while, and I'm trying kickstart it back into life again. I was thinking about doing a Q&A to get me thinking about stuff. If you follow me and like my stuff, go subscribe to the channel and drop a question here for the video. Thank.💖 🙂
Peggie the 205. I never realised how much I'd miss that car until it was gone. Everybody warned me I would. They were right; especially because the next owner scrapped it for a dead fuel pump... All that work I'd done to it. Found it via a breaking listing. It was too late to get it back... 😥
Got old junk that needs moving? Classic Volvos have you covered. 😌 #WeirdCarBS
I've never really been a TVR person, but Tasmin would be mine, because I like a good 80s wedge.
Like a Cadillac Seville with the Northstar engine on original head bolts and gaskets. It's been going fine for the most part, but there's that nagging thought at the back of my head that something will go wrong at some point, and it will be catastrophic. 🙈
I mean, Viktor does a good job of bringing SOME kind of vibe. (Usually one that brings down property values) BUT he is a very good, comfortable workhorse and did do a towing run of the caravan successfully. The engine and gearbox seem very healthy on this car! Not bad for 120k miles.
Don't know if we'll ever have a fleet that matches the vibes of the '94 fleet we had in the early 2020s...
My Immich memories reminding me about 'Bill' my old 1994 Proton Saga I rescued in 2020. I do miss that car. Always wished I'd bought it back when @joncoupland.bsky.social offered! Was an extremely reliable car, and surprisingly nippy! Hasn't seen the road in a while, sadly... #WeirdCarBS.
My dad had one just like this in 2001, but sold it in the mid 00s I think? I'm happy to see it seems like it's still on the road as well!
This is what Sevel platform vans do... The whole van was like this, covered in filler to hide it. Shame because it was a cool van, if extremely challenged mechanically, like many are.
Another budget Casio keyboard that was very neglected, saved from an auction for £3! Cleaned up and got into perfect working order. It's very easy to make fun 90s General MIDI sounds with the voices on this one. I made a little demo of 'Warm Pad' you can listen to! soundcloud.com/luminanceand...
Another instrument rescue! This is a 1984 Casiotone MT-46 in gold! After cleaning out corrosion and 40 years of grime, it works perfectly! Not bad for a £15 score! People sometimes have snobbery towards these, but they can still be fun! #casiotone #musicproduction #1980s #casio
Still, it was fun to play several boards at once from my Arturia! Almost feels like you're a 1 person band, which is cool.
I am now collecting lots of instruments to play with. 3 completely different implementations of MIDI control is certainly taking some learning... Hopefully things will get easier once I start syncing things up with my PowerMac G5 and the audio interface I've chosen. The hurdles of a beginner! 😆
I've been quiet this week because it's been a mixture of sorting out, and having heartbreak due to rot. I no longer own the Fiesta after that (it went off to help fix an XR3) and the trailer tent you've not even seen yet was a mess of mouldy, rotten materials. See alt text for more. #WeirdCarBS
That's #Rustival done this weekend! I am very much decompressing today. It was a lovely day and great to catch up with many of you, and hope to see those I missed next time! Viktor did well, but I'd be lying if I said he wasn't a wounded soldier after! Still some stuff to fix but looked after us.
Appreciation post for Viktor the Volvo 940. He's been absolutely faultless doing daily driver duties this week. Wafting in absolute comfort. The trip to Rustival is going to be a breeze. 🥰 #WeirdCarBS #Volvo940 #TurboBrick
Viktor is now officially total reliability! Was absolutely faultless on a test drive and got my partner @retrosammie.bsky.social to work today! Now very confident this car will make it to Rustival! All the hard work has paid off, thank goodness. 😌 (Puddle is just screen wash!) #weirdcarbs
It was a lovely thing. I wish we'd kept it. But she's living well with the new owner I believe.
"I told 'em Oldham" absolutely caught me off guard on this battery that came with the 940. But I live for it. What a fantastic slogan. 😂 #weirdcarbs
I have this desire to hunt down an have a Regata one day. But I blame all the ex-dealer tapes I got from my dad and enjoyed putting on YouTube. So delightfully cheesy and cheerful. Are there any Regatas left?? I have never seen one in the flesh.
So does I! We share that in common, Bob! I got my first hardware synth a while ago for cheap. I just had to fix that key marked X (just had bad traces) and for some reason, I don't have a picture of it after, so must rectify that! (I'm still learning to play it, properly.)
If this square dingus behaves, you will see us bringing down local property values in it!
