Birthday card for a dear friend (who likes doing pottery). This one was a relaxed playing around with my small travel palette plus some sparkly colours. Trying to focus on the progress and not on the fact that I'm terribly behind on the #52ArtWeeks project - […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Remember me asking about visibke mending for a L-tear in my linen pants? I combined the recs I got here with some crafts I already knew how to do (cross stitch) for a 🌻-result that makes me very happy today. Let's see how well it will hold! Previous post […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
This was dinner with friends who are visiting 🧀 🧀 🧀 #ViciCooks
BepiColombo mission is about to arrive at Mercury! It's a pretty nifty design: ESA's Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO) and JAXA's Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter (Mio) are travelling to #Mercury as a compostive spacecraft, stacked on top of a transfer module […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Had to improve some support for the gladiolus in our garden (I did not realize there were so many! I've seen maybe two last year...) since they are so heavy they cannot hold themselves upright. Good that we kept those cable tubes from disassembling the […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
I brought a cold home from EAS, so last two day were mostly couch days (which isn't very fun especially since those are also vacation days 😬) with small excursions towards the kitchen. Today I finally got up and since my brain isn't very cooperative, spent […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
I've had some burrata hiding in the fridge and the (sad, supermarket-) basil that I put outside before leaving for the conference trip survived, so lunch was a tomato, nectarine and burrata salad. Yum! #ViciCooks #kochen #food #cooking #vegetarian #vegetarisch
Tofu, Zicchini, black beans (how many does the recipe ask for? Let's double the amount!). Very much not Chinese but Chinese inspired, esdy to cook and I love Chinese black beans (not the same as what we'd usually call black beans, actually not beans at all) […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
One last train change in Utrecht - the Netherlands ARE in train chaos 😬 But I got into one and I got a seat. Also dinner salad for later at the AH in the station so I can head directly to the bus in Leiden. And get to listen to someone play the public piano in Utrecht.
Smooth train change in Frankfurt main station (we arrived a minute early!) and I even managed to get myself two quintessential things when passing through Germany: butter & scallions pretzel and a spezi drink!
There is a really good dog next to me 🐶😍 Need more dogs and less ppl in my life (though most of the folks in the train so far are Ok! The waggon is actually mostly quiet!) 5/n
Basel to Frankfurt and hoping to get some reading in. So far very smooth though I have a feeling that not wveryone is taking the quiet zone as serious as I'd like them to. (Yeah, it's Starbucks, but I really felt like a java chip frappucino...) #ReadingOnTrains 3/n
Off from Lausanne to Leiden. We arr starting off in Lausanne witha train station that is a giant constructionzone, some warm breakfast and a totally empty carriage. Oh and a 1 minute delay - on a Swiss train! 1/n
@steve @edyong209 look what I am packing for a 10h train ride tomorrow!

We are all stardust. The oxygen you breath? That comes from dying massive stars, ending their life in a supernova. The iron in your blood? Some from massive stars dying, but mainly fron white dwarfs, the leftovers of dwarf stars like our own Sun, exploding […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Because this week *vaguely points towards work and heat*, I had to cancel the regular call I have with a friend to catch up on life and our reading adventures. But it did not stop my brain thinking about the things I want to tell her about the books I read […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
When it's too hot to even cook inside (yes, even at 8 AM) but you still need to iron clothes for next week's conference... #AScientistsLife
One of the joys of this plant parent is to see he babies leave the house - these went to mother in law. (I'm missing the facebook plant exchange group... If folks here who are NL based are interested in a few baby cactii or succulents, we can certainly find […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
For the curious, some of the reference photos used for the above artwork. The loose watercolor style is roughly inspired by Anastasia Sälinger's "Florale Motive" (which is a lot more loose and abstract than most of her other works seem) […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Did some art with two friends - everyone working on their own project, but sitting together at the same giant dining room table. Perfect way to spend a very hot Sunday. #VicisArt #aquarelle #watercolor #watercolour #InkAndWash #poppy #mohn #art
#ReadingOnTrains nicht immer angenehm, aber 2/3 durch bisher sehr gut.
