The other half and I went to see the Odyssey tonight. Perhaps surprisingly, I thought it was outstanding, the best bit of cinema I've seen in absolute years. The parts I thought poorest were still good (if that makes sense?) Will have to go again before the run finishes. Chuffed.

Some more progress on my 1939 armour. Panzers primed and put on their bases. Thought I'd do the same for the Polish pair of tanks too. I used some basing goo for the first time, AK and GW tubs. Not too bad straight out the pot. I'll db the bases before the grass. #wargaming #spreadthelard #1949

Less progress than planned the last couple days, so I switched to assembling some more kit. Here are some German panzer I and IIs waiting for a spray. I'm rereading Roger Moorhouse's First to Fight, to keep the juices flowing. A tough, but enjoyable read. #1939 #Poland #wargaming #minipainting

Supply drop from @warbases.bsky.social The SMELL!!!! Via ebay, so didn't use real money, but still quick delivery. Trying to game-proof the 10mm WWII stuff as best as, combat patrols for O Group, big commanders for Blitzkrieg Commander etc. Still unsure for anti-tank rifles & light mortars.

I've settled on a fine colour scheme for the Polish armour now. The colours are still a bit washed out, so another coat or two needed. For the infantry, about four sticks worth is a manageable amount to paint. More, I miss things, less, waste a lot of paint. Progress #wargaming #nerdlings #1939

Not the greatest pic, but here's the fist half dozen Poles from Pendraken. A mix of paints but mostly acrylic. It's thirteen different steps, so not too bad for trying en masse. I'd hope to do 40 odd figs at a time.

Tidying away most of my desk to minimise and cat related accidents. I am baffled, BAFFLED, as to why I have so many projects almost finished... What's going on there? Some of them would just take a week or two to deal with. Something going on upstairs I think #wargaming #nerdlings

Ok, Jedi up front, Sith at the back, weirdos at the sides... family photos are so hard. I'm not into modern Lego, but love the Star Wars mini-figs. My aim is for A New Hope crew, Throneroom from Jedi, Phantom Menace Duel of the Fates (done,) and then Rey, Finn et al. Some clones and B1s too ££££

Nothing painted lately, but my birthday earlier provided these. Nautical books from my other half. She's paid attention to all the ships on the desk. Some ECW bits from my Dad. Have gone with Warlord Epic for the Scottish campaigns. Will find a skirmish set for 28mm. Very grateful. #nerdlings

Went to the Music Hall last night to see/hear the Aberdeen City Orchestra perform The Planets by Holst. An amazing concert, wonderfully performed, helped no doubt that they performed a favourite piece. A beautiful venue as always too. #musicsky #classical #Aberdeen

We went to a fundraiser for His Majesty's Theatre last night, sip'n'paint. Held for the 120th anniversary, you sit with some paint and a canvas, and get pissed. Haven't painted a picture since school 30odd years. Eye-opening. Strangely, it became easier after a drinkie. #painting #Aberdeen #HMT

A second proper runout for Victory at Sea, with added airpower. Real life meant that not all was painted, but no one seemed to mind. US airpower was strong. We've a proper handle on the rules now, some scenario and expanded options to follow. #victoryatsea #wargaming #warlordgames #WWII #WW2

1:1800 is a lovely scale for these ships. Smaller might get you more on the table, but the specacle of a fleet is impressive. We play on a 6x4 and there's still masses of space, even with a dozen ships per side. This is the USS Indianapolis, with her 1942 camo pattern (I think.) #wargaming #VaS
