This Fat Mom Bikes
@vocame
Used to sell yarn. Then I sold bikes. Now I just sling coffee, knit, and try to stay sane.
I need to level up my crochet skills. i keep finding things I want to create real life stuffies of 😆
Over the past 4 days I have cycled 55kms (well, more, as I didn’t include my 6 minute rides home). Unassisted. I feel 💪🏼💪🏼
Am I odd? Every week I make a big grain or pasta salad for my lunches. Mixed up rainbows. And then a soup or stir fry or curry. And a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies or banana chocolate chip muffins (whole wheat!).
I should try the ultra long one later - the three ideological proximities were all 1% off lol. My results don’t surprise me - been called a communist since high school.
Maybe someone who follows me on here wants to buy two pairs of 3X Connally Goods Lois shorts from me. My body has changed so they no longer fit! Pleated, long, work appropriate, stretch band, big pockets, durable cotton, belt loops. $40ea plus ship w/in Canada.
Should I freak people out by wearing my respirator out tomorrow 😆 😬 wouldn’t hurt me. (photo from my yarn dyeing days - it’s good to keep acid dye powder out of your airways 👍🏻)
Oh! And also Fresh Restaurant’s Favourites bowl with somen/udon. I have their recipe books, so I sure hope the miso sauce is in there 😂. Of course, I’ll NEVER be able to make coated tofu as tasty as the restaurant 🤤 I’ll settle for plain slices 😆.
Where no path exists, people will make one. (There is a looooong accessible path a ways on from here but no surprise this exists)
Alt: a video of the tin cup in its entirety. A lovely illustration of a couple of Tern bikes; the wood handle has their brand as well.
Nerd alert. @ternbicycles.com anniversary was recently and I was one of the giveaway winners!!
Timeline cleanse to catch your breath. Here’s a photo of the sticker I fixed to my new rear fender for people to stare at (and be stared at) as they come up behind me - be it in a vehicle or on another bike. 👀🍑
No. CBC I DO NOT want shorts. wtf is this garbage. I’m on your app to read. Not a dopamine hit.
37+ year old towels 🫣 the bath towel I turned into a heatable rice bag and cleaning rags. The hand towels still work so… 🤷🏼♀️
Truly impressed by the people who are like “oh yeah I sewed this dress/skirt/pants this afternoon”. If I exclude the set up and tear down, I still spent a solid six hours sewing this skirt and I could easily have spent more to be more perfect. I’m exhausted 😝😅
I have built pockets, attached them, and sewn four panels together (via new to me flat felled seam technique!). Now I’m trying to decide if I have enough brain left to sew on a waist band, thread an elastic, and hem. #SewSky? lol
Capitalism in one photo. A functioning store. Most customer traffic orders ahead and picks up on foot. No chairs, tables, no washrooms. Sterile. Unwelcoming. No conversation, no life. Just come, stand, poke on your phone while you wait wordlessly for the order.
Somebody talk me out of $800 in quality gear to upgrade my setup. includes fenders, Mojave bottle cage (iykyk), and fork cages for stuff. Also the rear rack I should have bought in the first place but we no longer have in the shop 😆.
“WHY is that cyclist ON THE ROAD?!” Besides obviously “we are legally supposed to be there”, I present to you this diagram. (roads and routes south of this are either blocked or high speed; also crosses railroad tracks) Locals can ignore the cars facing the wrong way; I’m limited.
Submitted a complaint to the city about this block still being closed just to store a portable toilet despite being a critical infrastructure connection point. Cyclists don’t use the detour because it’s basically suicide, telling you to ride and turn left in traffic. #ldnont
Well that was fun. Alt text; photos from within a large, slow, group bike ride.
I feel disappointed in these results but it was fascinating to just sit and watch traffic (I know, I’m so dull). I had to remind myself that it’s ok these numbers seem “low” to me — I watched just as many people going east-west as I counted north-south travel 😆.
Ask me any time and I’ll tell you I got into cargo bikes because of my eldest kiddo’s curiosity and enthusiasm. I didn’t even LIKE riding at the time.
