some friends and I are having a tea party this valentines day so im using it as an excuse to try out a new recipe

Recipes From Historyland: Bread and Coffee Cakes
Blueberry Crunch Cake
3⁄4 cups granulated sugar
2 cups sifted flour
1⁄2 tsp. Salt
1⁄2 tsp grated lemon rind
2 cups blueberries
1⁄4 cup shortening
2 tsp. Baking powder
1 large egg
1⁄2 cup milk
Cream sugar and shortening. Add dry ingredients sifted together. Add milk, and egg beaten
together, berries and lemon rind. Put in 9 x 9 x 2 greased pan.
Top with 1⁄4 cup softened butter or margarine, 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar, 1⁄3 cup flour and 1 tsp
cinnamon. Mix well, sprinkle on top. You can add pecans. Bake 40-45 minutes at 375 degrees.
