Bluesky - noise cancelling headphones for social media. Maybe I can hear myself think now ...
Looks like a painting. Was just perfect lighting. #CanadianRockies #Banff
Another day of waking up to stunning mountains and lake views. #CanadianRockies #Jasper (Time to swap out my battery)
Wagyu beef main, basque cheesecake with a raspberry coulis served in a chocolate teacup dessert … I guess a chocolate teacup does have a use. Early start to watch sunrise hitting a glacial field tomorrow.
“Tan lines are sexy” they say … Until they see what that means on the legs of someone who wears protective long socks out in the fields. So, “farmers tan”, but let’s add in one leg darker than the other from sitting in the car with left leg out the door while working. No shame.
At 4 months old, Maddie looked much more Wookiee like. Then she got a haircut. 3 years later - still cute … but no longer a Wookiee.
Looking for a new desk for my home office. The books on the shelf in this ad amused me ...
Old color vs new. Original faded sage green from when house was built in the early 80’s vs first coat of Smokey blue. House is getting a contemporary makeover. Not going to have a functional deck in time for July 4 (framing done, waiting on decking)… but it will all be done by end of July (I hope).
With all the reflecting pool talk ... Here is the Des Moines River (Batavia IA area where I was flying today). It doesn't have an American Flag Blue Rhino Liner 5000 coating. It probably has algae, and all sorts of NPS identifiable critters living in it. And it also reflects the sky. And the trees.
I work from the back of my car over summer. Inside my (hybrid) Rav4 is a DJI Power 1000, which I hook up a 100W and 200W panel to when I am stopped for periods of time. It's enough to keep my drone batteries continuously charging, and my laptop on power to process files quicker.
I wish I was out here with my DSLR. The storm front coming through is wild. It’s touch and go whether I’ll be done before the rain hits.
It’s started. House painting and new deck going on side by side. Gone is the original sage green from the late 80s that has never been touched, being replaced by Smokey Blue (apparently originally a Crate and Barrel paint color). Will I be able to get the BGE up and running for July 4?
Ummm. Yeah. That was a little closer than I would have liked. Cool photo that you aren't likely to see that often though.
Frustrating thing is, it street has its power buried. This is from a downed tree in the next neighborhood over. In computer networks we like to have redundant paths … why not in power grids?
Spent the afternoon watching storms coming at me. Fortunately stayed in the gap and finished the day. Besides the rain, it does mess with the wind ... downdrafts become an issue, gust speed becomes an issue, and prevailing wind direction is a pain to gauge. But it was a beautiful end to the day.
Beautiful day out here. Storms rolled through yesterday and everything just feels clean and fresh. Pity the temps are mid to upper 80s with humidity to match.
You can see Sweden from Louisiana*. *Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, north of Copenhagen in Denmark. If you get the opportunity to go … go.
I work from my car (‘25 RAV4 HEV) over summer. In the back is a 1000W Powerbank (DJI Power 1000) that I keep powered up with 300W of solar panels I lay out if I am going to be in one place for an hour.
Out walking the dog and this guy is just starring at me from across the street.
A screen shot of a IG post of a reel. Very meta. But if recommend following KristenKish on IG. Beyond the Top Chef BTS socials, she is a genuinely interesting person to follow.
We need more of this ... and also less. This will be surrounded by corn/soy next year, but for now it's a soy field surrounding a construction site. Field looks OK. A bit dry. They say it's a drought, but as an Aussie, the US definition of a drought seems weak. There will be rain this weekend.
