The villain in the ad—the humming server farm getting rich off porn and gambling—is NOT stripped of its tax break by Amendment 5, NO MATTER HOW THE VOTE TURNS OUT! Who is paying for this ad? Missouri Promise PAC received $1.9m from Missouri Promise Inc, a nonprofit incorporated in DELAWARE!

A new pro-Amendment 5 ad tells a DRAMATIC STORY about data centers, “big tech,” and a “1917 tax code” that supposedly lets them “get away tax free.” NEWS FLASH: 1917 has NOTHING to do with data centers. 1917 is when Missouri adopted the state income tax. ⬇️🔴⬇️⚪️⬇️🔵⬇️

What If the Rules Had Been Different? In 2016, Missouri voters approved a constitutional amendment limiting future sales taxes on most services. It passed with a statewide majority. But it did not win a majority in ALL EIGHT congressional districts. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

AMENDMENT 4 CREATES A DOUBLE STANDARD Some argue that changing the Missouri Constitution should require more than a simple majority — that the bar for constitutional amendments should be high. That's a reasonable position. But if the bar is raised, it should be raised for everyone. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

A HIGHER BAR FOR VOTERS THAN FOR POLITICIANS Would you sign a contract where the other party plays by different rules than you do? Most people wouldn't. But that's exactly what this proposed amendment asks Missouri voters to accept.

One district should not have veto power over the entire state. Right now, constitutional amendments in MO pass with a simple majority of voters statewide. Amendment 4 would change that. It will require that amendments INITIATED BY VOTERS get a statewide majority PLUS a majority in ALL 8 districts.

Missouri Amendment 1 helps support our state parks, historic sites, clean water, and soil conservation programs using a long-standing existing tax that Missouri voters have renewed for decades. On August 4, voters will decide whether to continue that funding for another 10 years. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
