Blue Hills Observatory at top of the Great Blue Hill. The oldest weather site that has never moved in the US. Before there were weather balloons the flew kits from here. 635 feet or so above Atlantic. First time I made the top in 2 or 3 years. #weather
International Backyard of Airplanes Aeromexico flight 45 from Paris to Monterrey passes over my head at 38,000 feet traveling through air at 555 miles per hour, according to @flightradar24.com The Boeing 787-9 will be landing in about four hours. #contrails #jets
I live on a quiet street in a relatively small town and yet thousands of people from all over the world pass by my house every day. Lufthansa Airbus 340, Sunday's Flight DLH 419 from Dulles to Frankfurt glides over at nearly 600 miles per hour just about 35,000 feet above the ground.
Nearly 89 percent of Massachusetts is in drought, according to the US Drought Monitor. The worst of it is in eastern Massachusetts where the anemic Neponset River sluggishly flows by on a cool July day. @neprwa.bsky.social
First "fire sun" that I saw this year in Boston. The fires are burning in Quebec and the smoke has left the sky a flat, warm gray. #wildfires
The strike continues on a day when air quality alerts are up for NYC and temperatures are set to hit 90F in Manhattan, according to the National Weather Service. (Here's a shot from yesterday's board in Penn Station.)
I haven't had the chance to get out much this spring. This is a Cedar Waxwing from a few years ago at Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick. While I am particularly ducks, ravens, crows, jays, and magpies, I have to say I am still thrilled to see a Waxwing. #birds
Mother's Day on the Neponset @neprwa.bsky.social by @thetrustees.bsky.social Signal Hill.
Good morning, it's Mon, May 4, 2026's 124th day. Smoke worsens air quality in Jasper, AB. Severe thunderstorms may pop up in TX and OK panhandles, and NYC +Northeast, may see some fire weather later. I saw my first warbler of the season Sunday -- a yellow. #birds #birdphotography #weather #wildfire
Good morning! The lighting was marginal, the distance was bad, but I wanted to get a photo of this guy because nothing gives me as much hope as seeing the first Hermit Thrush of the season. In Westwood's Lowell Woods. #birds #birdphotography 🪶
It's, it's... Really happening! Spring is finally getting to New England! @theresacrimmins.bsky.social
Now that the snow is (mostly) gone Nibs can get back to her favorite outdoor activity -- a good old fashioned roll.
I have to say other countries have more simplified weather warning systems and a lot of them just use red, yellow, and green. But are there any agencies in the world that make prettier maps than the US @nws.noaa.gov ? It looks like a bag of candy.
The nurse dropped a piece of gauze on my hand and I thought it was a happy face sticker. After she was done with the blood draw she improvised so I wouldn't be disappointed.
The Neponset from the window of the @amtrak.com new Acela. My first time riding it. Smoother so far.
Just 11 as far as I can tell. 20 on top of what we still had leftover from January.
A couple inches of snow, a mail carrier dropping off a package and Nibbles the Six Thousand Dollar Dog defending her territory with some madhouse barking. #snow
