Conclusions

Asthma control appeared to improve in the follow-up period after electric stove installation compared with the baseline period with a gas stove. People with poorly controlled asthma may consider transitioning away from gas stoves depending on their resources and circumstances. A controlled clinical trial is needed to confirm these findings and to assess long-term outcomes.

They try to argue that "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" actually means "has parents who are permanently domiciled in the US" and cite a bunch of non-authoritative opinions and quotes out of context, ignoring that Wong Kim Arc *explicitly* disagrees with them.

From Wong Kim Arc decision: "the implied license under which private individuals of another nation enter the territory and mingle indiscriminately with its inhabitants for purposes of business or pleasure can never be construed to grant to them an exemption from the jurisdiction of the country in which they are found."

How likely is this?

All defendants asked for a judgment of acquittal from the judge based on lack of evidence. U.S. District Judge Rebecca Pennell gave the parties a deadline of two weeks to prepare to argue the motion. She took it under advisement earlier in the trial, something that is considered by other attorneys to be somewhat rare.

Oreskovich is hopeful the motion will correct the jury's decision.

Come on politico, it's not a "reversal." It's not "high-minded rhetoric." Democrats are still 100% in favor of independent redistricting, but it needs to be a requirement for both parties, and Dems have put forward bills to require it. The Republicans shot them down.

Wind offshore and least cost mix for a "future integrated energy system" showing basically the same EUR/MWh, including a small amount of biomass backup, and barely perceptible amounts of storage cost.

It violates the "purpose and policy" section of the WPA, which requires there having been an emergency attack on the US first, but that doesn't have any enforcement mechanism beyond Congress directing the president to withdraw.

The headline is misstating the poll results. The 29% number is from Biden voters who voted for someone other than Harris in 2024, not non-voters. For non-voters, it was more spread out, with the economy being #1

The previous link I shared outlines the procedure. The members-elect vote for a new speaker before they're sworn in. Once the speaker is elected and sworn in, he/she then administers the oath to all the other members.

This isn't true. First thing that happens is either the clerk or sgt at arms presides over the election of a new speaker. Only after that does the new speaker swear in the rest of the members. www.congress.gov/crs-product/...

Although no officers of the House will have been elected when the House first convenes, officers from the previous Congress perform certain functions. The previous Clerk of the House calls the House to order and presides over the chamber until the Speaker is elected and sworn in. In the absence of the Clerk, the Sergeant at Arms performs this duty.

If it's completely separate from campaign funds, then why does it "make her physically nauseous" to think about all the good that campaign funds could be doing? What's the point of this statement from her?
