PT PhD student by night - interested in the representation of military aviators in popular culture. A librarian for the USAF by day. Easily distracted at all times by biathlon, geopolitical arguments, rugby, murder mysteries, or livestreams of airfields.
You're right. It's true the foliage is yellow and brown outside, but it's not autumn it's THIS HORRENDOUS WEATHER..! It's wretchedly Australian out there ;)
Working here can be a real privilege :) SR-71 veterans panel of pilots, RSO, intel, and maintainers telling stories and answering questions.
The Execution of Lady Jane Grey. I grew up in small, isolated towns in NZ & Australia. I'd never been to a big gallery before. I knew/know nothing about art. Walking into the room at the National Gallery in London and seeing this HUGE painting of this VIVID STORY blew my narrative-loving mind :)
If you'd like a more soothing sport, West Indies now 7 for 441 chasing a massive 549 on a lovely day at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium in Antigua. And that's only the 1st innings for each. Greaves on 146 but starting to run out of partners.
Surely that new US passport pic is fake? Or did AI scrape it from "Airplane!"? ;)
Agree - was fortunate enough to have a short trip on the Fiordland Navigator for a couple of nights on Doubtful Sound. Sadly it didn't rain (when the place is at it's best!) but the stars in a spot with no light pollution more than made up for it. Wonderful part of the world.
Knowing nothing of Manga but having just bought $2000 worth for the library, I thought I'd read the first volume of everything we got to get an idea of each series. Now agitatedly waiting for some patron to finally return Vol 4 of the Perfect edition of Monster so I can keep going with it!
Okay, comicsky, let’s do this: Show me your comics taste in 4 different comics. (Without realising it ahead of time my comics taste is apparently ENTIRELY 'fighting the undead'!)
I've never had a noise warning for "musket and cannon firing" before! Perhaps it's for the America 250th. What if we win this time? On the bright side y'all don't have a President anymore, but on the down side you probably get the East India Company or something.
Thanks for this thread, it was very interesting! I'll have to plan a trip. My local dome has been turned into a pub ;)
I have immediately fallen for signing up for this, thank you ;) Naming my imaginary horse as we speak.
I hope they have the iced water on hand for all the super USAF volunteers for Monday's Memorial Day ceremony at the Cambridge American Cemetery. It's forecast to be up to 35C/95F & I'm sure that's a shock to the system when wearing blues & standing for ages in the direct sun after a long winter! ❤️
Sometimes, after a long day at work, people deserve some home-made pizza and a Jackie Chan movie. The Shadow's Edge was perhaps over-complicated in plot but it had some great fight-scene choreography and was a very enjoyable time :)
Pick a bond villain from the photos you already have on your phone ((Once a villain, always a villain!))
Watching a bit of IPL after the NRL finished...how *gorgeous* is that ground at Dharamshala?! (Great atmosphere goes without saying with the IPL, especially with Kohli batting right now.) Did they just sit down and say "Let's build the most beautiful ground in cricket?" 😍
I know this is not to any important point, but: that is too many ribbons. In no way am I saying he does not deserve them. Merely that it is too many to wear. A giant clipboard strapped to the collarbone area cannot be comfortable. Is there an 'all' rule for appearing before the Senate or something?
I opened YouTube and my brain immediately thought the picture was from a new Jason Statham movie trailer I wasn't aware of and I was *in*...I can't even describe how *in* I was.
If you were the Evil Friar in London in August 2014, I belatedly thank you for making my bland touristy photos of Kensington Gardens far more interesting. Keep it up :) (Possibly a cosplay of Silas from The Da Vinci Code, not sure)
