London’s Walking & Cycling Commissioner Working with the Mayor, TfL & boroughs to build a safer, greener & healthier city. Posts, errors & typos all mine.
Since @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social was elected in 2016, we've delivered a fivefold expansion of London's network of Cycleways to over 450km - enabling millions & millions of greener, cleaner, safer & healthier journeys 🚲🚲🚲 And we're not sitting back in our saddles, there's much more to come...
Great to see progress on Cycleway 34 in @LBHF. This route will go along Wood Lane to Shepherd's Bush Green & then across Holland Park Roundabout - enabling safe cycle access to Westfield, TV Centre, Imperial College White City, Wood Lane & White City stations. 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
No matter how much you've spent on a car, you still need insurance & a valid licence. Good to see the @metpoliceuk clamping down on dangerous driving in 'super' cars. Last week they seized 90 vehicles worth over £8m in an operation targeting uninsured drivers, anti-social and dangerous driving.
The recent transformation of Olympic Park Avenue is looking excellent. One side of the bridge has been converted from a road, making a new safe bike lane connecting up the Westfield Ave cycle tracks to the Chobham residential area and Cycleway 16 into Waltham Forest. 🚲🚲🚲
London is quickly becoming a cycling city. Trips have soared to 1.5m a day. Our network of cycleways is now over 400km - and is expanding fast. We're currently extending Cycleway 4 in Greenwich - making the streets safer & enabling more people to switch their trips.
We're working in partnership with London's boroughs to make streets safer & enable more people to cycle. Greenwich are consulting on a new link between Plumstead & Abbey Wood - with new crossings, greening & cycle infrastructure. communityconversations.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/cycle-walk-a...
We're making London's streets safer across the capital. Good to see the new crossing we've built on the A406 Sterling Way being well used.
Construction progressing well. @tfl is transforming the Streatham Hill Corridor to make it safer for people walking & cycling - including new crossings & cycle lanes. Great to meet with Lambeth Council this week to discuss progress and wider plans across the borough.
And there's much more great work to come from Newham - discussed more cycling schemes in the borough and the much needed (& upcoming) overhaul of Woodgrange Junction on the Romford Road Corridor. In the words of former Newham resident, Arnold Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back!"
Back from holiday & delighted to join Cllr Susan Masters to celebrate the completion of latest phase of Newham Council's Romford Rd safety scheme: 🚲bike lanes 🚦signalised junctions 🚶♀️ped crossings 🌳street trees, planting & drainage Great partnership working with TfL team
Today @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social launched an ambitious plan to clean up London’s waterways. By improving waterside paths & creating a new river walking route, we can help more Londoners enjoy the benefits of walking & wheeling while restoring nature & improving public health. Win-win. 🌿🚶🌊
A big thank you to all our construction teams across London who are enduring this heat to make our streets safer. This team are working on the new Whipps Cross Road cycle lanes in Waltham Forest. Please stay safe & hydrated - we really appreciate your life saving hard work.
Thanks to @tfl for organising the Vision Zero Action Plan conference this week. Great to meet so many new councillors & officers from across London's borough who are keen to make their streets safer. #VisionZeroLDN
E-bikes - with pedal assist with speed & power limited by law - are legal and a great way to travel around London. Illegal electric motorbikes - with much more power, speed & weight and with an auto throttle - are a dangerous menace. Good to see the police taking action.
London’s newest cycle lane: Shaftesbury Avenue. We’re busy expanding our network of Cycleways across the capital to make it safer for people to travel by bike. And cycling has soared, now there are an average 1.5m bike journeys every day. 🚲📈🚲📈🚲📈🚲📈🚲📈🚲📈
In the run up to #LondonDataWeek, it was a privilege to welcome representatives from over 20 cities to London for a Google for Cities event discussing how better public/private partnerships can use data & AI to help build greener, cleaner, healthier cities for all. @ldncdo.bsky.social

Mayor of London, @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social, extends TfL bus & tram fare freeze for another 4 months, alongside our brand new Weekend Hopper fare being introduced over school holidays, making travel cheaper & easier than ever this summer 😎🐸🚌🚋
Great to be at the World Cup tonight - England vs South Africa in the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup at the Oval. London is fast becoming a beacon for women’s sport. Tonight we broke the record for the biggest crowd at a women’s semi-final. Amazing game & well done England!
New bike lanes. New bike parking. New crossings. New e-bike parking. New sustainable drainage. New trees & planting to come 💚 #London this morning.
I bet this SUV must have been going at quite a speed to do this amount of damage and fully close Waterloo Bridge this morning. I hope nobody was hurt. #SlowDownSaveLives
Greenwich Town Centre has the UNESCO heritage site, the Naval College & Museum, Cutty Sark, market & shops. But it's cursed with too much dangerous traffic. We're working with @Royal_Greenwich to make it safer for visitors, pedestrians & cyclists. royalgreenwich.gov.uk/news/2026/pl...
We completed our road safety scheme at Battersea Bridge in 2025. Follow up research shows 91% of pedestrians said they felt safe when crossing here now, compared with just 21% in 2022. We're making London safer for people walking & cycling. #VisionZeroLDN
We've doubled the amount of TfL wildflower verges to 520,000m² in 2 years. 🌺🌻🌹🥀🌷🌼 Not only do these flowers look amazing, they help boost biodiversity & support wildlife across the capital - we've see 50% increase in butterfly sightings in last 12 months alone.🦋🦋🦋
As cars get bigger & bigger they take up more space on streets & in car parks and pose an increasing safety risk to road users. 👏LTDA for raising this issue with Wimbledon & their fleet of 170+ SUVs for tennis players🎾 Wouldn't smaller safer vehicles be better? www.thetimes.com/uk/london/ar...
In the 1970s, 85% of UK kids travelled to school independently - that’s walking, cycling, public transport etc. Today it is 25%. This seismic shift has had so many negative consequences. Today, @cities_clean we shared how we’re re-designing cities for kids again. #LCAW2026
