We are about near or at the juncture of the season where we probably begin to catch more chinook salmon each trip than coho salmon
It's late June and we're still fishing relatively shallow for the time of year, due to a previous regime of winds from the west which had setup a cold water upwelling ... and super comfortable shore temps too. That looks to change soon but won't necessarily mean fishing further offshore .. just yet.
Our catches will probably begin to evolve a little bit from the mostly all coho hauls to those that include steelhead and king salmon as well. And yesterday's catch certainly showed that.
It’s June and the families are now capitalizing on the coho bite
Four of the five species represented here. Some of our coho have departed familiar waters. However a big school of lake trout have taken up residence. A correlation? Or no? And one rod caught all seven trout. And it wasn’t even a ‘trout rig’.
I’m not saying I sell appliances but I do sell a service to a similar consumer category at similar prices. And I’ll say that in the 19th season of doing this, coupled with record high fuel prices, it’s the most challenging business climate I’ve seen.
Yesterday morning, Joe & family drove up from NW Indiana to catch some fish. Early on the bite was pretty slow but picked up nicely as the fish went on a feed. I have an opening this Friday in the morning & am also seeking a solo to join a group this Wednesday morning ($250). Text 773-791-7990

Another day, another limit+ of coho salmon. And the first king salmon of the 2026 season. Not a big one but a nice one about 8lbs. Sunday morning is still open. As are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. After that the openings are much thinner. Text me at (773) 791-7990
