I like telly and I talk about it here and write about it here
In fact that list is wrong because it only covers the Friday night films. I went down the rabbit hole and emerged with the full list of the 20 films in the season.
I had a dig around and found this list I'd pulled together years ago of the films in the (David) Robinson's Choice season which caused all the fuss. Fascinating list.
Ha! Speaking of Bristol Colston Hall, how about this for a line up coming attractions in the same week?
They obviously went down well in Cleethorpes. They got a summer residency in 1977.
There's a lot to digest in this advert from the Cambridge Evening News (26.11.1976) but the bit that really caught my eye is Victor Borge performing at the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Hall.
This is in my cupboard at work and I'm steeling myself to assess if there's anything in there that doesn't exist in more recent databases.
This caught my eye in Sainsbury's. Twinings may as well go the whole hog and launch some "Please make everything stop and go away" tea.
Look at the size of this epic that just arrived. Thanks to @greavesian.bsky.social for alerting me to its existence.
I'm a huge fan of Sylvia. Here she is in one of my favourite photographs.
I also enjoyed his 1975 book Disrupting the Spectacle, although the title does now sound like a euphemism "I've just disrupted the spectacle, I'd give it 10 minutes, etc..."
I'm reading Peter Ansorge's 1997 book From Liverpool to Los Angeles as recommended by @greavesian.bsky.social It's a good overview of the development of TV drama up to that point, and it's enjoyably waspish as well.
There are loads of blu-rays arriving this week. Here's the first batch. Can you guess which one I forget I'd ordered?
This - edited by @johnnymains.co.uk - arrived today. It’s a whopper.
I was just happily reading the paper only to look around and find I was sharing the house with Michael Myers.
Chilling with some friends on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas everyone!
I’ve finished work at last, so it’s time for a sherry and Carols from King’s. Merry Christmas, and here’s a festive image to put you all in the mood.
I've now bought Roy Bottomley's history of TIYL, and it has an appendix listing all the victims and their *codenames* which are functional but I imagine the office conversations sounded weird. Sparkle, Straw, and Canal.
We’re looking after our friends’ dog Penny over Christmas, and we had them all over today so she could have a look around the house and give her final approval to the arrangement. We think the new pig toy swung the deal. She’s quite a character.
I’ve had a very long day at work, but I’ve got back to this World Cup draw and now work looks like a more attractive option. Anyway, it’s definitely time.
