Got myself a little birthday present: the new short story collection from @amalelmohtar.com, which I’ve been looking forward to reading, and With Her Own Hands by Nicole Nehrig, which was recommended to me by @crowchetcreations.bsky.social.

I took advantage of the cooler weather to finish this #crochet blanket project. I’m going to donate it and another one I crocheted to a local charity that provides baskets to families in need with new babies.

On a hike at Stella Niagara, we came upon this beautiful old apple tree in bloom.

My granddaughter asked to see pictures of my tiny beans, and I decided to share with everyone, because TINY BEANS.

PLATFORM DECAY by @marthawells.com arrived in my mailbox today, so that’s my evening sorted out (gotta read it quick before someone else here grabs it). Yay!

I applied to work as a copy editor for the local paper. They turned me down a while back. And now I’ve decided on a new, fun hobby: mocking all the ridiculous errors I catch. This is from a front page article about the new town board member. I wonder if he knows his clock is ticking?

Without downloading anything new, where are you mentally?

I’m about to devour this unsuspecting blueberry cinnamon scone. Thankfully Sous-Chef Jon was able to help with the baking because I grated myself while trying to grate a stick of frozen butter. Worth the pain, though.

Got some cucumbers, tomatoes, and beans repotted. They’ll go outside once I’m more sure they won’t freeze their little roots off.

My current #crochet project for hockey nights. The hat’s made with merino wool, and it’s so soft! I can’t decide if I want to give it away or keep it. (I have plenty of hats already. Seriously.)

Taking a break from @guygavrielkay.bsky.social’s excellent new novel, which has interesting things to say about the intersection of art and politics, to work on The First Sock. It’s proceeding apace, but I’m intimidated by both GGK’s narrative artistry and the looming heel turn in this sock.

I’m attempting to learn how to knit socks. So far not pretty, but I’ve succeeded in rescuing a slipped stitch and that’s a big win.
